Sonicstef or anyone doing place candles
I have a question about the candles instead of place cards. I know there have been a bunch of posts about these and I'm sorry to bother you with it, but I made on last night and I really loved it...the only problem is, my printer wasn't printing dark enough on the vellum paper. I made it bold, used black lettering and it still looked very light.Has anyone else had this problem?
Any suggestions? Thank you so much for your help.

Re: Sonicstef or anyone doing place candles
I don't remember what font, (its at home) but I know it was a script font. I probably have to use a font that is already bold and then make it bolder!

Re: Sonicstef or anyone doing place candles
Im not using a bold font so I don't think thats the problem. Some fonts don't print well on some PCs. Did you print it on a regular sheet to see if its the printer or the vellum?

Re: Sonicstef or anyone doing place candles
Yes, I did print it on regular paper and it was fine, so I am assuming its the vellum. As long as I know, its just me having the problem I can keep trying.

Re: Sonicstef or anyone doing place candles
Are you using a laser or inkjet printer. No matter which, you need to buy the vellum that is specialy made for each. Inkjets don't do well on regular vellum (the laser kind) so you have to buy the kind that the ink adheres to better.

Aaahhh, that could be my problem I am using an inkjet (I guess it doesn't matter that its a really good one!?) So in other words, there is vellum paper just for inkjet printers?Am I driving you crazy yet

Re: Sonicstef or anyone doing place candles
No problem. If you can get your hands on a laser printer, you will make your life a lot easier.
Inkjet vellum is more expensive and it doesn't look as nice AND it smears when wet.

Re: Sonicstef or anyone doing place candles
I still love the idea, but how does everyone plan to arrange them so that guests won't be burning their hands or arms?

Re: Sonicstef or anyone doing place candles
Teri - the candle in the votive (if you use a tealight) is low in the glass so the flame will not go above the rim to burn anyone. Even after 5 hours of burning, my test run was still not hot enough to burn anyone. The only way someone could get burned is if they put their hand over the rim of the glass and hold it.

Stef Question on vellum!!!!
Stef question on vellum, I am stopping in at Paper access tomorrow to pick up some vellum and I was wondering is it hard to score...and if you score it, does it look all bent out of shape and cracked all over?? I am looking to use vellum for the cover of my programs!!!

Re: Stef Question on vellum!!!!
I plan on letting each guest light their candle with a large lit candle I will have on the side, I will include a saying explaining to light the candle & bring it in to the table etc.

Can some one bump up the thread that explains what this is/looks like, or better yet, a picture?

Re: Stef Question on vellum!!!!
shamma: Vellum is so easy to score but don't score it too deeply or it will break. In fact, you don't really need to score vellum because it does not crinkle like paper when folded.Hope that helps.
