We are waiting on the buyer of our apt. to get his SONYMA approval. Then we can set a closing date on both the apartment and the house. This is so stressful, why are they so slow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm also concerned since I know some of the LIW folks had problems w/SONYMA

SONYMA took 3 months with us only to turn us down a week before we were supposed to close

Did you stay on top of them. We signed the contract the end of August and SONYMA is promosing to have everything done this week.

We called the bank (Bank of NY) every 2 days... We had eveything in the first week. They just said SONYMA is swamped now, and can also turn basically anyone down for no real reason...

I don't know, for us it wasn't the SONYMA part that took forever, it was our bank. SONYMA had said once they got our approval from the bank, they would take about, oh I can't remember but I think it was like 5-7 days and they actually had it done in less I think(we were calling everyone and pestering people like crazy to make sure we were able to close with our locked in rate.)

We used SONYMA...but it was the Bank of NY that took so long for everything...they were TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I still give them the finger every time I drive by one of their banks)

We used SONYMA too. We applied mid July and just closed on October 1. I agree with it being the bank that held things up. Just when you thought you had everything they needed, it was something else again! Once the bank had everything together and sent it out, it didn't take long from there good luck
