soo upset about the aisle runner =[ and my church!!

ahh i cant believe it! i'm so upset right now! me and FH went to go meet with our priest again yesterday and so he begins to tell us what they do allow and don't allow in the church... and so of course he tells me they dont allow aisle runners because of a slipping hazard!! =[ so yeahh you can just imagine how upset i was when i heard this.. i cant believe it, that is actually something i was looking foward to, having my own aisle runner made costumed with our names and quote and all and now he tells me this!! =[ very dissapointing to know not even on your own wedding day you can have and do what you want, the one thing i always wanted.. ughhh!! =[

and another thing they dont allow at my church.. the flower girl to throw the flower petals on the floor as shes walking down the aisle.. niceee so not only am i the bride not going to be walking down an ailse with a damn aisle runner but on a BARE floor but my FG cant even throw flowers!!!!!!! =[[[[[ tell me why do they have these rules.. ughhh!!

is anyone having this problem with their church also?? =[[

YES!!! My church also will not let me have an aisle runner. I am too bummed because I really wanted to make one also...It ***** but I was happy to finally have a church! I was having such a hard time finding one!
I am allowed rose petals (I hope!!)

This is very common. My church allows aisle runners, but not rice, confetti, petals, or birdseed. They also don't allow prerecorded music, must be live. And no strapless dresses.

Same thing, no aisle runner, no petals and no throwing anything outside the church. Its kind of disappointing. But the church is beautiful.

Same here..but it's my college rules...I am getting married in the chapel of my college I graduated from..so I kind of knew from the beginning but I am doing the isle runner any way! What are they going to say to me on the day of my wedding, sorry but you can't, anyway I know the nun that will be there that day and she is pretty cool!

Same here too!

No isle runner allowed or peteal being dropped by the flower girl in the church because of slipping hazzards. (i always thought the isle runner had some religious significance.)
I'm thinking of asking if we can sign a waiver to allow us to have the runner and take responsibilty if someone slips.
the flower petals are not allowed because the church doesn't want the responsibilty of cleaning up. I'd be happy to do it myself.
that also goes for the outside, but people still throw stuff anyway.

yes, my church is the same way as far as the flowers go, I was so upset! Now they FGs are carrying those little ball things. They are allowing an aisle runner though.

Sorry you are having trouble with your church, man can they be strict! Dont worry your wedding will be amazing with out those things anyway!

FH was so upset by this he said he would have his brother follow everyone up the aisle with a dust buster if we had to. Not sure the church would go for that. But now I think were not having FG anyhow, but thats a whole other story.

Our church won't allow those either (aisle runner because people have tripped on them) and flower petals because they stain the carpet (or if fake, who is going to pick them up once the ceremony is over)?? I actually think the pictures will be nicer without the aisle runner because of the contrast with the dress and I'm having the flower girls carry adorable smaller versions of what my maid of honor is carrying and they feel excited about that because they'll be like the big girls. I would try not to be too upset - everything will still be beautiful.

You are not alone. My church does not allow aisle runners. That doesn't really bother me much though. The floor has carpet, so whatever. One less thing I have to worry about tripping over. As for the flower petals (inside) and birdseed (outside), they really didn't say no... just that someone must clean it up afterwards. So, my flowergirl will have a basket of flowers to carry (such as an arrangement, not loose petals) and we're pretty sure we're doing bubbles outside. Oh, and since I can't have an aisle runner inside, my limo company is providing a red carpet for outside as we exit the church. They better not forget.

yeah im like really bummed about that aisle runner deal! =[ i thought aile runners were religious in weddings, i guess not - lol.. im just soo upset, i even tried to say what if i have it alreadt what am i suppose to do with it after spending all that money on it - lol.. the priest than tells me well you can use it for your hall as you guys are coming in or whatever, lol so that didnt work.. but i was thinking whats the worse that can happen if i bring it anyway and have them put it out?? whats he going to do, make them roll it back up?? haha.. i was thinking the same thing also about maybe asking them to sign a waiver or something that if something does happen we will be responsible, but i havent gotten that far so i think im going to call the church sometime this week or wait till november 1st when i have to go back to meet with him and ill ask him about signing a waiver and lets see what he says, but i have a feeling that wont help anyway.. and about the flowers, he tries to tell me i can have my flower girl take the basket of flowers still and just have her carrying them for decoration and than use those petals for something else, like throwing them somewhere else like in the hall for pics or whatever.. because they said its all about the aftermath of throwing them in the church, that no one will than clean it up.. ughh!! =[

i dunno.. i just might tell my FG to throw them anyway and ill pretend she forgot and shes only a child sooo what are they going to do, take the basket away from her... haha, i feel like a bridezilla right now but im really not!! just these little things that do matter to me and make me soo sad, ahhh!!

that way you can still have your runner

i can do that but i think to spend all that money on a isle runner to only be able to use it for 2 seconds outside the limo is silly.. so i dunno what im going to do yet, prolly not even order one anymore!! =[

Our church is cool on aisle runners but they're hesitant on real flowers for the flower girl bc they think my dress can get stained. I'm not sure what we're gonna wind up doing, but they brought up a good point....

yeah i hate that the flower girl cannot throw flowers down the aisle cause honestly what is the point of a flower girl and holding her basket of flowers if she cant do that than?? that upsets me!! we pay all this money to get married at their church and they take away these traditional things.. its upsetting!! :( but honestly im just going to let my flowergirl do whatever she does and i will not stop her or tell her not to do it, lol.. if she throws them im going to let her, what is the worse that can happen?? get yelled at on my wedding day?? lol.. i dunno, i'll see what happens!!
