soo worried

Ok as most of you know FH is in the Marine Corps and therefore he is stationed in San Diego.

Well we were going to have our wedding in May of 09 and thought it would be plenty of time when he comes home in June for the month for booking a RH. Well recently we moved up the date to Sept of 08 (we would like the 27th). However, It is a Sat night and only like 17 months away now and will be 15 months away from our date this June.

Ughh Now I am nervous cause first we have to check out halls and then decide to book one as well as photo/video and music. But I am nervous that by then there will be no halls available for our date and even if we change the date we wont get the hall we want cause it will already be booked....and not to mention photo/video and music...

ughh I am stressing about this....any advice or just some nice words to calm me down haha

Maybe you can start looking at RH now without him and narrow it down so once he comes back you show him the ones you liked and the two of you can decide together from there. This was you save time dragging him to a bunch of place you don't like anyway.

It'll be OK... I know people who have planned an entire wedding in less time than that and it was beautiful... you'll be OK... maybe now's the time to get other stuff out of the way... dress, BM dress....

def start without him. you can always send him pictures of the places and the quotes you got. you may be able to make a decision that way. Dont stress i have 15 months now ans all i have is RH and church. you will be fine!!! Just start looking at RH's now

Don't worry, you'll be okay! I know people who got engaged and then got married 10 months later and it was a beautiful wedding.

Someone said it earlier, Weddings don't need to be planned 2 or ayear and half ahead of time like some people do on here. I know plenty of people that have done it under a year, and you're over! I'm telling you you'll be fine, AND youre in Sept, if it was June I might say you may have some difficulty, but really try not to stress yet!! You'll have plenty of time to stress much later

It'll work out, and remember most places do more than one wedding at a time...

thank you guys!! you are making me feel better!!

I think i am just stressed from school, my parents and living at home and now moving the wedding up which is definitely what we wanted but i am just nervous...

thankfully i have narrowed my choices of Rh's to visit down- especailly after talking to a bunch of you 08ers and haven given me price qoutes....i just felt bad going to see them without FH but maybe I can do that so when he does come back and I just drag him to 2 or 3 halls....

thanks again!! i am def going to look at dresses after i graduate with my Bacholers in May but feel like i need to concentrate on my studies more since I am falling a little behind.

I know EXACTLY how you feel! I live on the west coast and only come home 1-2 times a year. So I have absolutely NOTHING done yet!
So far, all we've done is to go online and narrow down the RH that we want to look at next time we get back to LI. I've also checked out a bunch of photographers online albums and blogs to get a feel for what I might want. But I get so stressed when so many girls on here have so much done already and I have nada. But like others have said, you can plan a wedding in much less than a year, and Im sure there are tons of girls on here who have done it! It will all come together before you know it

you need to get RH first and foremost
as for everything else, there are so many vendors out there i cant imagine you wouldnt find anyone

my cousin got engaged feb. 25th and is getting married 9.8.07 - at water's edge, someone cancelled so you never know

My friend just booked in Feb. for early Sept. this year. Plus she got a great deal!

Can you start looking at halls with a friend or your mother to narrow down the choices?

you can also call the rh's that u like and see if the date is available and ask them if that's a popular date etc and ask them about bookings at the place. we did that when we went looking and ppl were pretty honest with us.

at some places were were told they can 'hold' the date without a deposit and then if someone else comes along...theyll call and let u know....at least that's what we were told (dont know how true that really is)...but i dont know the time frame for that.

but if def doesnt hurt to check out the rhs and then go back and visit them with your fh when he's available!

a friend of mine just got engaged this march, and booked Venetian yacht club for their wedding this september!!!! 6 months away!!!!

You will be surprised how much is really available.

Id start looking at places and CALLING places,
Most catering halls will give you availability, pricing over the phone!!!

thank you girls soo much. i think in the next two weeks i am going to check out the two main places i would love to see - go with my mom or sisters and see if i even like it in person. then see what their prices are and could they possible hold the date unless someone else is already willing to put down a deposit.

thanks again. i feel less stressed knowing people can book a hall and a whole wedding within 6months lol

The internet is a wonderful tool. Most places have a website. If you start looking now you can always send FH the websites of places you are looking into so he is not out of the loop!!! Even if you don't start now don't worry. My wedding is only a year and 16 days away and all I have is the RH DJ and church and they were all booked within the past 2 weeks!!! Good luck and I know everything will be fine!!!

thank you! i feel so much better knowing other people dont have much more booked besides RH and church or Dj....

i def told FH about LIW and he has checked out some of the RH's so we narrowed it down to about 5-7 halls....but like I said I might check them out before he comes home now...to get a general idea!!!

First agree on what type of venue. Do you want it on the water? In a garden? Also think about color schemes so your colors don't clash with the room. FH isn't really into the wedding planning. He's more interested in how much is going to cost! But honestly I searched high and low all over the internet. Fox Hollow had the rustic charm I wanted and within budget. We were sold and didn't look anywhere else!
