Re: sooo aggravated!

Oh my gosh that is ridiculously annoying. Does this friend know other people at your wedding? Maybe you could try to politely tell her that this wasn't really what you were expecting when you offered her a guest invite and you then can kinda blame things on the huge wedding costs. If she will know others at the wedding then you could point out the fact that she really doesnt need to bring a friend. Or, if this girl didn't go to your shower or bacholerette and you're already frustrated with her, you may not even want to tip toe around and you may just want to confront her.

Ugh I'm sorry you have to deal with this. I can't believe some people!!! GOOD LUCK!

Michelle, that is so rude of her. I would tell her flat out that it's past the RSVP date and her spot has been given to someone else.
I stopped letting ppl on my guest list last week even though I still have room because I just didn't want to deal with it.

Agreed. At the very least, say that you can't accommodate the friend. so so so rude.

actually, she does know a lot of people at the wedding! so i find it VERY weird that she would bring a co-worker - what I don't get also is that this co-worker would agree to go with her!! do people know proper etiquette anymore?????

sorry -- just had to vent!! i'm soooo annoyed!

if you are really annoyed, may I suggest that you call her and let her know that the final payment has been made and the seating arrangements as well.

OMG Sam -- what a nightmare this has been for both of us - this has been the most stressful part of the wedding for me - it's just full of drama! ugh

I would speak to her... and if you do want her to still come to your wedding... tell her that she can't bring a guest....
Sorry you have to be going through this...

waiting until 2 weeks before the wedding is extremely rude. It's like saying 'I wasn't sure if I wanted to come because something better might come up'.

Your friend is being rude, so don't let yourself be walked all over. Tell her flat out that when you didn't hear from her you assumed she wasn't coming and you have no place to sit her. You can reinforce this point by mentioning that since she didn't come to the shower or b-party, you assumed she wasn't coming.

Or, at the very least, tell her you can squeeze her in but didn't count on her bringing a guest and have no more room.

Really, what is wrong with some people?

Oh - for the person whose mom wants to add more people. Your wedding is less than a month away. If these people didn't receive a formal invitation, they will know they were not on the original guest list. Tell your mom you've already done your seating arrangements and you will have to start all over for 4 people.

I could go either way on this... she absolutely should have replied ON TIME - the fact that it is so last minute is not right.

About her choice of guest, I don't know if you should really say anything about who she is bringing, if you invited her with a guest and she's bringing one - it shouldn't matter WHO she is bringing

my opinion

you have a point but I think good wedding guest etiquette entails considering what the bride and groom would feel about your guest, ESPECIALLY if you know most of the people at the wedding anyway - that's just me - and if you know the couple well enough, then at least ask first before you register a random guest 1 month after the RSVP date!

I too had a few people bring guests they weren't even dating, but day-of you really won't care... you will be so happy that all those people are there for you... you won't even notice that girl's date. I understand it's frustrating, but don't drive yourself crazy - it's not worth it
