SOOOOO MAD

SOOOOO MAD

So some of you may remember a while ago my aunt (close family friend I call an aunt) sent me an email telling me that she would not attend my wedding if her ex husband (I consider an uncle) new wife or children were at the wedding, and how upset she was that we would invite him after 'everything he did to her'

Well we invited them both anyway (cause there is always two sides to the story) and my Uncle called and said that he would not be attending because he did not want anyone to feel uncomfortable and he knew that I was closer to my aunt than him growing up. My uncle insisted so we said fine. My dad called my aunt to tell her and she went ballistic saying that he was 'just doing it to look like the good guy'

Now my RSVP was June 1 and I still have not gotten an RSVP from my aunt and it looks like after all this crap and her email, etc. she is not coming because it is too expensive for her to come up! I can't freakin believe this. So after all that headache it looks like neither of them will be there.

Yes I agree! Its their loss. One day they will both look back & realize how rediculous they were acting.

unbelievable.

Dont let this ruin your wedding.

I think what bothers me the most is that you are their niece for crying out loud. They can't put aside their differences and ill feelings towards each other for 5 hours? That's more than childish, it's selfish as well. Pft. Sorry you have to deal with this!

ETA:: It's not like you'd sit them next to each other anyway! Bleh!

I would call him up and tell him thank you for being gracious and considering the feelings of other parties, but due to the expense those other people will not be attending, and therefore there is no reason for him to stay home.

You gotta love it when supposedly mature adults act like children. I would call your Uncle and let him know you would really like him to attend and if your Aunt ends up showing up, oh well! I'm sorry you're mad!

Thanks. I think it is too late for my uncle to make arrangements, grrr. My aunt was all gun ho saying she was coming, until my uncle said he wouldn't go because of her. Then she had one excuse after another for why she hasn't responded(three weeks ago, there was a supposed work conflict with the wedding she needed to work out, two weeks ago it was a possible surgery in the family two days after the wedding and now it is too $$$). I am just mad that she put me through this bull**** and has the audacity to not even come

I was going to suggest this too. He was being a gentleman and bowing out so you could be with the person that you were closer to. Let her act like a child, but let him know that he is still welcome.
