Soooooo happy

Soooooo happy

So, I'm older than I care to admit and my parents still treat me like a little girl. And usually that pisses me off, but today I am sooooo happy.

I don't know if anyone else got 'bonds' for birthdays and graduations all their life, but I got plenty and they always went into the bank for 'when I needed a little money'. And all my life when I wanted to dip into the bond bank to pay for what I thought were important things Mommy and Daddy always said no! Even when I couldn't pay my rent -- but that's another story.

So here I am 165 days away from my wedding and I told my parents that despite their very generous gift I was getting nervous about $$$. So finally they give in and say -- why don't you cash in those bonds.

Well, I am and they are worth a whole lot more than they were when I 'needed' to go on Spring Break.

It looks like I might get a honeymoon after all!!!

congrats...thanks to my grandmother(rest her soul) i will have more than 10,000 to contribute to my wedding. Because of her generosity and forward thinking, i was able to go to college AND have a gorgeous wedding.

Congrats to you on your $$$$$$ windfall!

how awesome!!! congrats!
keep this in mind next time you have to give a communion or christening or graduation gift to somebody,... bonds make the BEST gifts for that kind of thing!!
i finished school last may, and thanks to bonds i got for different occasions, i had almost $9000 to put as a big payment on my school loans

Congratulations!!! I am trying so hard not to use mine for the wedding. I'm hoping to use them for a down payment on a house!

Re: Soooooo happy

I know where you are coming from. A few years ago I was cleaning out my Dad's attic and came across the bonds I got for my Holy Communion twenty years earlier.

I had totally forgot about them. It was only a few hundred dollars but still a nice surprise.

In answer to everyone's questions about the honeymoon -- its actually going to be a surprise. FH is planning it. I just told him that I am packing a bikini and I expect to see palm trees.

Its the one thing I cannot deal with in terms of planning.

We are both in school so it will be a short one, but in January we are going to Italy -- Honeymoon Part Duex/Dissertation Research!!!
