I am soo mad. FH says i'm overreacting! My Future in laws are throwing us an engagment party next month. Today we were over there for dinner and the phone rang. His mom let it go to the answering macchine b/c we were eating. The message was from his aunt saying that noneo f her familhy would be coming to the engagment party (which is 20 people with kids & spouses + kids) and 'if you want and need us to send a gift we will' I am super insulted. Our engagment party is not about money or gifts!! (even tho they are appreciated) I feel so angry and hurt. My FH and I are not desperate for funny and our families are stable middle class families. These people who did this are very wealthy

I'm sorry you're angry but i don't really get it ... are you angry because they gave a lame reason for not being able to come? maybe they had something else that day?

That ***** but I wouldn't get too worked up over it. If FH is not then he obviously expected something like this from them. Also remember they probably did not mean for you to hear the message.

it always ***** when people cant come to an event but I sorta get what you're saying. its the offhanded way the message was left. we're not coming...but i guess we could send a gift..if you needed us to. don't they WANT to send you something? I would have taken that like even dealing w me was a hardship.
try to let it go. in the end it's not worth the stress.

thats the major reason why i was so mad last night... because they said if you want and need us to send a gift. i feel that was really rude to say. i've cooled down though.. i was just furious last night lol

if it makes you feel better, FH mom didn't even come to our eparty and she didnt send a card or a gift or anything. we havent talked to her since.
