So my Mom surprised me and FH last weekend with a belated engagement gift....she took us furniture shopping and bought us a new living room set!!!! We really needed it - our current furniture was a handme down from FH's boss, and it was more like a formal living room set, but we had it in our TV room and it was impossible to entertain or even get comfortable in there! She got us a couch, loveseat with ottoman, chair, coffee table and two end tables!!
We also had a really huge bulky TV in a gigantic crappy entertainment center, so FH and I decided it was time to upgrade that to make the room nicer, so we got ourselves a 50 inch plasma and a new TV console for it!!
The TV was just delivered and now I am waiting for all the furniture! WOOHOOOOOOOO! I will post pics after it is all set up!

I know!!! I almost fought with her at first, because I thought it was just too much and so not necessary for her to do that, but she basically said if we didn't go with her to pick it out, she would just pick some and send it over, so I thought, I better just go with it!! I'm about to send her flowers to her work right now!

Same for us with FH's parents. They have been super generous in other areas, but for some reason there was no response to the engagement. But then again, I don't know - is it normal for the parents to give an engagement gift?

We did a ton ton ton of research before buying it. We went with a 50 inch Samsung plasma, and it is a 1080p. That's a technical thing that my FH understands (the other options were 720p or 1080i - apparently 1080p is the best).
