SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Pissed off at the Hyatt Hotel in Hauppauge

I am so angry right now I can't take it. We blocked hotel rooms there last year for our wedding on Sat. When we booked we were told by our contact that the bar was open until 2 am...AND I spoke to someone last week who confirmed this...MY FH JUST gets off the phone with them (He had an unrelated question and just decided to confirm again while he had them on the phone) and the woman said their policy had changed and the bar now closes at 1am! Our wedding is only over at 11:30...I wrote them a little note expressing our feelings- I X out names, cause I am too nice...How PISSED would you be

As you are aware, my fiancé and I reserved a block of rooms at the Hyatt Regency Wind Watch in Hauppauge for our Sat. August 4th 2007 wedding. One of the reasons we decided to go with your hotel was the close proximity to our reception hall, The Hamlet Wind Watch, and the fact we were told by our original contact, Heather Brauer, that the bar would be open until 2 am with extra staff. Now, 3 days before the wedding, we call to confirm are told the bar is only open until 1am. Needless to say, we are extremely disappointed and quite embarrassed. My fiancé and I have been telling people for a year that we will be going back to the bar after the wedding to continue the celebration and that the bar would remain open until 2am. At our initial meeting with XXXXXX, on the Hyatt Wind Watch Hotel Social Check list, which we filled out with her, she crossed out 1am and put down 2am next to Bar closes at promising us that it would be no problem to keep it open with extra staff, which we have a copy of. Furthermore, last week I spoke with a woman by the name of XXXXX in your department, and she confirmed this time to us. While the hotel claims that this information is technically not in our contract, I would like to think that a person's word is good for something, why were we not told in our numerous conversations with your hotel that the policy had changed? We feel completely mislead and lied to about the services the hotel was going to provide to us. There must be some concession that can be reached, and renting out a room for a minimum of $650 plus a bar tab, which was suggested to us, is simply unacceptable. If your staff would have been straightforward with us from the beginning we would not have had this problem and would have sought accommodations elsewhere. As our wedding is only 3 days away, please contact us immediately so we can reach a compromise.

To be honest, the bar was ridiculously crowded and so understaffed, it really turned out to be a bad situation anyway. People were getting pisssy at each other, and the two waiters they had for the big crowds on a Saturday night.

I wouldnt blame Heather though. She is a GEM and told you exactly the information she knew at the time. What you signed really wasn't a contract, unfortunately.

I am getting married at the HWW too and have rooms blocked @ the Hyatt but I do not remember what time Connie said the bar is open until...

that stinks! I have rooms blocked there too however Heather told me when I blocked the rooms that the bar was only open until 1am. They must have changed it after your contract.
Heather no longer works in that department which is annoying b/c my sister had trouble booking a room next to my presidential suite. She wanted a King size bed and the dope she talked to said they couldn't guarantee her a king. ??? w t f ? I wanted to talk to Heather about it, but can't. The new woman in her place seems kind of biotchy. This reminds me I have to call there and figure this out...

I honestly don't blame Heather, she is the only one who ever responds to my emails, even though she is no longer the official contact. I blame the fact that they had too many people handling one situation, it was a total lack of communication on their part....it is just so annoying.

ask them if you can hang out in the bridal suite (if its not being used)

Not the bridal suite ROOM, but the suite they have for BP's who are having weddings there.

My sister had her reception at the hotel and since the bar area was so crowded after the party ended, we went up to my brother's room. Because we were making so much noise, they let us have use of the bridal suite we had during the reception.

Im sorry you are dealing with this within days of your wedding. FH & I wanted to find a hotel that would have a bar opened late for the same reason. (We went with the Sheraton)

DONT LET IT UPSET YOU too much though... remember people are going to be pooped after the party... Ive been to plenty of weddings where people hung out afterwards but most people leave within an hour.

That is a great letter. I can't believe they did that! I am so afraid all my vendors will have a problem like that so close to the wedding. I wish you all the luck in the world. I hope they come around. I would have a loud mouth friend or family member call and make some noise. I would also have your mom or someone close to you call. That is just not right!!!

As usual, I agree with Caroline... People don't always last long after an open bar wedding.

So sorry you had to learn of this change a few days before your wedding!

We have rooms blocked there too..primarily for the bar at the end of the night..which I don't think we will even make it to..since our reception is over at 12.

Maybe if enough of us complain/write similar letters they will change their policy?

I can see their reasoning for having the bar close early, they have guest rooms right behind it. It still stinks if you expected it to be open later though.

We had it in our contract that the bar was to stay open until 2am.

It ended up staying open longer due to an incident that occurred at the hotel not-related to our wedding (some kids playing with a fire extinguisher set off the smoke alarm and everyone had to evacuate around 1:30am).
