HOW TO BE A GRACIOUS *****

Jennifer's wedding day was fast approaching. Nothing could dampen her
excitement.................... not even her parent's nasty divorce...

Her mother had found the PERFECT dress to wear and would be the best
dressed mother of the bride ever!

A week later, Jennifer was horrified to learn that her father's new young
wife had bought the exact same dress as her mother!

Jennifer asked her father's new young wife to exchange it, but she refused.

'Absolutely not, I look like a million bucks in this dress, and I'm wearing
it,' she replied..

Jennifer told her mother who graciously said, 'Never mind sweetheart.
I'll get another dress. After all, it's your special day.'

A few days later, they went shopping and did find another gorgeous dress.

When they stopped for lunch, Jennifer asked her mother, 'Aren't you
going to return the other dress? You really don't have another occasion where you could wear it.

Her mother just smiled and replied, 'Of course I do, dear. I'm wearing it to
the rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding..'

Us StepMoms get such a bad rap...like we are all EVIL.

I hear ya, but the point is that it was the stepmother's place to get a new dress, and she refused.

I know but it's just sometimes the Bio Mom can be the evil one....just grinds my gears...grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

no it's ok..i said I wasn't mad at you...it was funny...it's just being a Step Mom is one of the hardest things a woman can do in her life and we are not all evil or trying to be the 'Mother' . Disney always makes us look bad (and Step Fathers) and it just seems like society makes us feel even worse.

You know you are doing a good job and that is all that matters. My mom HATED her step-father when she first met him but down the road she realized what a great guy he was and honestly he was the best grandfather I could have ever asked for.

Kids are just tough in general (I am guessing here as I have none) but Disney also made women out to be helpless for YEARS... Don't get me wrong I LOVE Disney but not until Beauty and the Beast did they ever start making the heroin be a strong female figure... they were always girls with daddy issues and needed prince charming to save them from something... Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, the LIttle Mermaid, Snow White... (and off my soap box I come).

So EFF Disney, you're a good mom!
