Where can I go for moderately priced gowns? I have been to:

Please help I'm starting to think I'm never gonna find a dress!

FYI some places are closed Sundays for summer -- so make sure to call ahead

The Wedding Plaza in Baldwin. It's on the corner of Grand Ave and Merrick Raod. It's a block away for Lilliets.

I got my dress @ Lynbrook Bridal Center in Lynbrook on Sunrise Highway and I think they are unbelievably reasonable

I live by Charmet and I started there, they are totally reasonable but I checked the same gown at RK and it was $300 less. Although it is almost worth going to Charmet for the service because at RK you have to know what you are looking for or you will never find it. Once you find 'your dress'..the perfect one, if you know a good seamstress go to netbride.com and get it for even less

It depends on the dress more then the store...for example Alfred Angelo dresses run at around $500, some others run plus $1000 ..BUT remember that ( and no ones seems to do this) at most bridal suites (especially the ones who dont list the maker of the dress...ie..labels) you CAN negotiate, and lower the price...Most work off a base salary and then commision..and the mark up is a LOT..more so with bridal gowns then BM's though so everyone knows...If you get someone who will work with you , you can lower a dress price by 30%....My cousin worked at a bridal suite for years and at one point gave a girl a 60% discount on her dress because she came there like 6 times but could not afford it ( and the store STILL made money off the dress)...The average mark-up is 60% and many smaller places that you go to will lower it with some haggling at least 20% or more, if you go in knowing that you know they will still make plenty of money...
For places to go with lower cost dresses I suggest : Renates in Lindenhurst Carol's in Lindenhurst David's Bridal ( only for their prices, customer service sucks) Bridal Suite in Bayshore

www.bridepower.com Find the dress of your dreams then contact them and they will find you a sample in pristine condition -- if not they will completely fix it. My dress was a brand new Paula Varsalona and I paid only $1500. IT IS AMAZING and you do not lower standard of quality.
