Sort of personal question - I can't be the only one!!

Sort of personal question - I can't be the only one!!

So my dermatologist put me on Tetracycline, because I have bad acne at times. And as anyone who has ever taken an antibiotic can tell you, they tend to cause yeast infections!!

So turns out, I am no stranger to this, and I get one. I run to the store, get some no name brand cream to use, and wait. Well that was 3 days ago, and now the damn infection has come back with a vengeance!! It's twice as bad as it was before!!

(I should mention I stopped taking the Tetracycline as a result, since I would rather have acne I can cover than a damn YI that prevents me from having sex!!)

I have a presciption with Costco for Diflucan, but since I have no insurance, I would have to pay full price, and I have no idea how much that is. Has anyone had this happen before? I'm sitting here at almost midnight ready to run to Walgreens to get something because it's annoying me!!

Thanks in advance.....

there is a generic version of Diflucan now. I think you have to take 2 pills but it was only $6 at my pharmacist. I would ask your Dr. about it, or even the pharmacist.

Also, when ever you go on antibiotics try taking Acidophilus. Its the same stuff thats found in yogurt and it helps to prevent yeast infections.

There is also some kind of natural pill you can take, yazo or something that helps prevent them. Eat yougurt daily too... the pills are by the pregnancy tests and stuff in drug stores usually. Good luck!!

I take acidophilus which is naturally occuring in yogurt but I take it in pill form. It's the good bacteria. Antibiotics don't know good bacteria from bad. They kill all of it.

Get the most potent one you can. I get in it GNC or the Vitamin shop.

I had to take diflucan once when I didn't have insurance, and I think it's something like a $30 pill. But you only need one. I may be wrong because it was a few years ago and I may not be remembering correctly. But I would just get it. It's one pill and then your YI is cleared up. It's completely worth it.

Yikes!!

I've been very lucky and have never had a yeast infection, but my mom used to get them and would drink gallons of natural cranberry juice (the pure stuff, not the 'juice' that like 40% juice 60% sugar) and lots of water. This always helped her.

I THOUGHT IT WAS $25 A PILL

SORRY SWEETIE THAT YOU ARE DEALING WITH THIS- I CAN TOTALLY EMPATHIZE.

I WAS ON TETRA FOR MY ACNE- FOR OVER A YEAR!
THE STUFF NEVER HELPE D ME UNFORTUNATELY

MY DOC PRESCRIBED ME ANOTHER PILL, IN ADDITION TO THE TETRA- THAT HELPED PREVENT THE YI'S. SO I WAS TAKING 2 THINGS.
YOU SHOULD ASK YOUR DOC IF THEY CAN GIVE YOU THAT OTHER PILL

I think it's for general 'down there' issues...I don't know. My mom is kinda nuts but it worked.

Im not sure about the cost, I think its about $30 and it is one pill. It works within 24 hrs, I have that same problem with antibiotics, its ***** so I feel your pain . Take the Diflucan asap and you will better!!

I started proactive Sun. for my acne, and my face looks better already - no lie!! And they say you have to wait 2 weeks. YOu should try it, so you dont have to take antibiotic or ask your doctor to prescrobe medicated ointment. Hope you feel better!!

My heart goes out to you..

I HATE them!!! So annoying!!!

I have taken that pill and it did nothing for me. I know everyone is different. But, I think the best is monistat. It works wonders!!!!!

No need for a prescription and all your uncomfort goes away almost instantly, well for me anyways.

Hope you feel better!!
