My derm put me on it for the wedding. I'm 26 and still having bad breakouts, esp around my period. I can't take it anymore! But I've only been on it for about a month or so, and it's been great, I'm so clear. But the drying out part s$%^s!

yes, I was on Accutane in college....
my skin was perfect for a year...then the acne came back and I had complications (ex - when I got a zit it stayed much longer and I scarred a lot easier)...
good luck - for your wedding, your skin will be perfect, but everyone's experiences are different when they are off of it for a few years.

It will help... but remember it stays in your blood stream for up to a year or more once you stop taking it so you will have to keep that in mind after you get married and want to start a family. You could also switch to proactive when you stop taking that it is excellent!

I was on accutane for 3 months, and I had a good experience. The acne got worse before it got better, and my skin was really dry, but in the 3rd month, i swear it just vanished. Poof, no more pimples, no more dry skin. Unfortunately, I had to be taken off due to complications- my cholesterol skyrocketed, and something in my liver didn't react well to it. As soon as i stopped taking it, my body returned to normal.
My skin was clear for an entire year afterwards, and i was so happy. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

i was on it in college - i was told to take vitamin e to prevent scarrign because you are so dry and drink tons of water
it worked great for me - no pimples for years later- but now i consider going back on it for a short time

I was on Accutane about 8 years ago. My skin was really dry especially my lips. I never had a bad breakout again. It was a lifesaver.

i used it in college and loved it too. it worked wonders.
drink lots of water and stay out of the sun. and definitely go get your bloodwork done on a monthly basis.
i actually would like to go back on it but my current dr refuses to prescribe it and has me on tetracycline (not as effective).

I used accutane in college also. It worked wonders and it cleared up a lot of my scars too. I've been off it for almost 4yrs and my skin has never returned to the way it was before, but I do get bad breakouts once in a while.

I was on Accutane about eight years ago. I also had the very dry skin - esp my hands. My acne got worse before it got better...but when it did it happened over night - my skin was flawless. I completed the three month treatment and my skin was fine for about a year. I started breaking out again but nowhere near how I use to break out. That eventually went away as I excercised more and drank more water. My skin has been pretty much clear with exception of a pimple or two around my period.

I SWEAR by this stuff!!! I was on it about 5 years ago...after trying all the CRAP out on the market. Accutane was the ONLY thing that worked for me. I was acne free up until a month ago when my stupid doctor put me on this medication for something else...it ended up making me breakout. Still nothing like before, but even seeing one pimple sends me over the edge being Accutane cleared me up for YEARS without one lousy pimple. I LOVE that stuff!
