I think I'm going to try this-two of my friends did it and lost 10 lbs in 2 weeks-so why not? But I have a question-can you use full fat salad dressing or just low fat? It doesn't specify.

Re: South Beach Diet Question
I dont care WHAT diet you are on..10 lbs in 2 weeks aint nothin but water. For a quick fix it will work, but expect to gain back all of it plus some when you are tired of it.

Re: South Beach Diet Question
I lost a total of 11 pounds the first two weeks. I agree that a lot of it was water but now I just weighed myself for the 3rd week and I lost 2.5 pounds. It slows down to a healthy level.
Good Luck

Re: South Beach Diet Question
PS I use full salad dressing but have no carrots, tomatoes (sp) or croutons.

Re: South Beach Diet Question
That is good that it slowed down. If someone continued to lose 10 lbs every week, that I would hope that they would have the sense to stop the diet. GOod luck ladies!

Re: South Beach Diet Question
Oh good-more people on the diet! I started today too! Any tips? Also, so full fat salad dressing with under 3 g sugar is ok?

Re: South Beach Diet Question
I think the point of the diet is to eat the good fats. I mix my OWN salad dressing with vinegar, olive oil and seasoning.. I also love lemon & olive oil dressing too!
The BEST dessert is the ricotta cheese w. almond extract, vanilla extract, 1 packet of splenda, and a handful of almonds...
also- drink TONS of water- more weight will come off that way.

Re: South Beach Diet Question
Sassy is right! It is all about the good oils. Oil and vinegar also fill you up so that you eat less. I love this diet!
Good luck ladies!!! \
Sassy~~~Tell me how this diet compares to Atkins. THe book compares but I thought that it might be more interesting coming from someone who has actually done both.

Re: South Beach Diet Question
It's basically VERY similar... same science as Atkins.. but South Beach goes into more about glycemic indexes and how eating combos of food to slow the digestion of the carbs. It's not all about ketosis like Atkins is.
South Beach is MORE forgiving w. eating carb foods after 2 week induction.. but of course he's all about whole grains and good carbs.. never white potatoes, white bread, enriched bread and the like.
Atkins is pretty much- no more bread ever or eat my special atkin's bread, etc.
I think what annoys me about Atkins is that a lot of his products (the bars for example) are good- but cause MAJOR stalls in weightloss.
