South Beach Diet thread

can we start one of these too?

I think its good to get input from everyone!

i've already tried to start the diet, but i cant stick with it..it really isnt' even that difficult. My weakness is peanuts..I know you can have them, but i'm having too many each day because they are satisfying.

and i've had a lot of parties lately where i've been surrounded by junkfood & alcohol..

not having bread & pasta and carbs like that isnt' even bothering me as much as the sweets & stuff..

does anyone have any tips?

I was on SB for a while. It's a great diet, unfortunately I had no will power on my own Anyway, to answer your question about sweets and stuff ... I would try to eat things like Red Bell Peppers and Tomatoes also I have tried their Ricotta Vanilla Creme dessert (not the greatest but it filled my sweetooth) ... Atkin has a few dessert items you can try too (cookies, muffins, etc) that would be great for the SB diet. Good luck

I've been pretty successful on the SBD. Down 17 lbs., with a dream goal of another 20.

I found the diet easier than WW and the carb cravings faded sooner than I thought they would. I eat a lot of low-fat cheddar cheese. My best friend had a great creation, which we call Turkey Roll-ups.

Take low-fat spreadable Garlic & Herb cheese (Alouette or Rondele) and spread it in the crack of 5 inch pieces of celery. Then, wrap a piece of fat free turkey breast (I like Butterball smoked) around it. Sounds strange, but it makes for a great meal or snack.

Can't help with your peanut cravings... Maybe try pistachios instead... Good luck!!!

oooh..that turkey/cheese thing sounds good! i'll have to try that!

you know what else is good..i saw this on a website, but if you take cheese, like mozzarella or cheddar,or whatever kind really and you put it in a toaster oven til it browns..they become like crackers!!

Re: South Beach Diet thread

I have a recipe for a parmesan/artichoke heart recipe that I love and is SBD friendly. I can post it if you're interested. Not everyone likes artichokes... My fiance made faces at forst, but ow this is one of his favorite things. I just wish artichoke hearts weren't so darned expensive.

It is VERY easy to make. Here you go!

Ingredients:
2 cans artichoke hearts packed in water
8 oz. parmesan cheese
1/2 cup mayo
2 Tbsp. dried parsley
2 tsp. garlic powder
pinch paprika

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Chop artichoke hearts into small pieces and mix with parmesan cheese, mayo, parsley and garlic powder. Spread in 9x13 pan and sprinkle with paprika. Bake 25 minutes, or until hot and bubbly.

*When I make this for the South Beach Diet, I use reduced fat parmesan. I also use a little less mayo and add in some of the water from the artichokes, to keep it moist.

Let me know what you think!!! I could eat this three meals a day (and I have).
