Southward Ho or North Hills Country Clubs?

I've seen a few posts but nothing too specific.
Has anyone been to a wedding or had a wedding at either place recently?
I hear (from my family and other brides) that the food has gotten a lot better lately at Soutward Ho. (My family are members and have friends who could sponsor us at North Hills)

Just wondering if anyone has any info at all.
I have a small wedding so I ended up not meeting the minimums at a lot of the venues I fell in love with.

See paintbrush91's post!! And, by the way, the reason that SoHo's food has gotten better is cuz the new chef's have put together a great kitchen. One of the guys used to work at North Hills. My FI was wondering who your sponsors would be at Southward Ho. I have been to both clubs ( a friend used to be a member at North Hills) and I would say that for pics, Southward HO is nicer.

Thanks for the info. My parents have been members for many, many years. Friends of ours belong to North Hills. My dad said it's great and there is a ton of food - my mom said the food was good BUT reception room is not great and Southward Ho is nicer (and MUCH closer).

I still don't know what I'm doing. My FI's parent's said they will not come (long story) so we have to make sure his brother can make it and he has very limited dates he can come in from South Africa because he is a grad student. Southward Ho is very flexible so it might be the way to go. Also - it's very reasonably priced compared to most other places we've seen and has not minimum!

If you are looking for a place that is beautiful, go with SoHo. I worked a party last nite and was laughing cuz every single couple, as they left, were commenting on what a beautiful old building that is. And with the chairs and settees all over it is so homey and comfy. Also, if you get nice weather you can do the pics outside by that windmill. My FI is now dying to know who your parents are

I am having my wedding there in September. We have a tasting scheduled the first week of July so I don't know how the food is yet. I love how beautiful it is and not at all like a catering hall. And the grounds are beautiful. I can't wait.

I have recently been to two functions at Southward Ho and they were both very nice. The food has improved greatly and has moved beyond the standard club fare. Service was very good. If you are planning a very small reception you might even want to look at the newly renovated pool house. Good Luck with your plannin.
