Any feedback? They have a $49 flight to Florida and that sounds too good to be true..

Re: Southwest Airlines
We almost always do Southwest out of Islip to Orlando when we go to Disney.
Just get there way before your flight since there is no assigned seating, we sit on the floor at the head of the line at the gate to ensure DH can get an exit row since he needs the extra leg room.

They're good! We took them to Vegas and got the $49 deal to go to Orlando for our anniversary!

Re: Southwest Airlines
DH and I flew them to Florida....we hated it. We got to the terminal 2 1/2 hours before our flight....and we still got stuck in the back of the plane in crappy seats.

JUST got back from a trip to FL on southwest!
the $$$ is true- although we didnt get that price we booked too late- my parents are going in a week or so booke awhile ago and they are only paying 49 each way! it is a great deal! no problems! nice people! not as roomy as jet blue but for a short flight it is no big deal

Re: Southwest Airlines
being that SW flew in and out of San Antonio all the time I flew them A LOT
I loved them.
You did have to get there early for seats.. now with the online trick it's nearly impossible unles youre sitting on your computer at midnight to get YOUR seats.
Still for the price.. its good
Which probably explains why they are one of the only truely profitable airlines.. which means even after the money from the govt that all airlines gets they are still way into the black, which can not be said for the others.

Re: Southwest Airlines
If you log on to Southwest.com at midnight the night before your trip, you can check-in and print out your boarding card (thus ensuring 'A' boarding group).
This does not mean, however, that you shouldn't get to the airport early... security can still be a bear, you'll likely need food (we serve nothing of substance on the plane), and boarding starts 20 to 30 minutes before departure time. I can't TELL you how many people rip me a new one when they get on late saying - 'but I checked in last night, I'm in the A boarding group....'
Have a great trip! And thanks for keeping us profitable!!

Yes, you can print out your boarding pass ahead of time and get in the 'A' group, but if it's a crowded flight you still have to stand on line for a long time before the flight boards. That really annoyed me. Other than that the flight was good. I usually find the same rate on JetBlue or Delta Song. And I get to pick my seat on those sights so I don't have to stand on line when I get there. Can you tell that part really annoyed me?

Re: Southwest Airlines
I try to NOT fly Southwest if I can find anything else for about the same price. I used to fly them a lot to NC b/c the rates were so good, but doesn't seem any better anymore. And since I always have to change planes, it just gets more annoying. No chance of getting there 3 hours early with a connecting flight. And, I find even when I am by myself (no one to have to worry about not getting a seat next to) I am still all antsy and HATE to not be in the front group. I have no idea why, but when I see people lining up or trying to move ahead of me, I get so annoyed!!
