spanx/body shaper underewear which do you recommend?

so after taking a visit to my dress to show my cousin yesterday visiting....they put the cups in and WOW it really made me look much better!!So that answered my bra question(although many of you recommended that already so thank you)
The lady also requested a body shaper underwear..its not spanx but just smooths me out....She said not the boy shorts one. I ordered one online at jc penny but wanted to see if you knew of a good kind...
meanwhile my dress was ordered in a 8 and the girl who ordered it is no longer working there so the lady that has been there for years said this should not be an 8, it should be a 4.Tried on the sample of the 4 and it fit amazing(although I couldn't breath) so I had them order the 6.said I wouldn't be a prisoner to being nuts about my weight in the next year....

I bought Spanx because I was considering wearing them under my dress. But honestly, they are so tight I feel like I just can't wear them for that long.

The shapewear is supposed to be a lot thinner.

Hi! Thank to my job, I am a bit of a shapewear expert lol.
It is more about the level of control than the brand - there is light control (which is probably the thinner piece you were recommended), medium control, firm control, extra firm control. So, if the shaper you have is so tight you can't breathe, check the level of control. If you are at a firm control, try something in medium compression.
For medium to firm control pieces, I would go with Spanx or Maidenform, as they have the most variety of styles available. If you are really trying to suck it all in, go with a Miraclesuit. They aren't pretty looking, but will definitely give you the maximum control. ( I would test out wearing this for a few hours before your wedding day, so you can see if it is realistic to wear all day.)

In terms of styles, it depends on your dress.
A body suit or body briefer or shaping slip will define your waist & smooth your butt. Make sure there is a little bit of ruching in the butt seam so it doesn't flatten you!
If you are wearing a fit & flare, I would go with a high waisted thigh slimmer so that it cinches your waist but also smooths out your butt & thighs. Like your saleswoman said, I wouldn't go with a boyshort because it will cut you off mid thigh.

Kris I have two questions . Are you supposed up wear underwear under it? The maidfnform I got is totally see through. Another question I didn't know my size so I got small and medium . The small is kinda tigh but only in stomach area. The medium fits comfy but not sure if it's not tight if that defeats the purpose. Thanks!
