Re: Spare change!!!
We've been collecting our change since we got engaged. We use an empty Poland Spring jug (the big ones that go upside down on the little machine thing) and it is practically full. I cant wait to see how much we have in there!

Re: Spare change!!!
I have heard that saving your change is great, but do not to let it sit for 2 long in the house. You should cash it in and put it in an account to collect interest. Some banks let you open a CD with any amount of $.

Re: Spare change!!!
I have been saving my spare change too. Every pay check I get $50 taken out and put into quarters and I dump it in the jug that I have. We are gonna use the change for spending money for our HM.

Re: Spare change!!!
We started that too. We each have a jug and we will see what it gets us. FH is a bit skeptical....but going along with it. He isnt the saving type...so i am trying to start him off small.

Yes, you should definitely empty out your spare change periodically into some type of high interest savings account or CD!! Great advice!

Re: Spare change!!!
I never thought of putting it in a CD. I used to end up with a lot of change but ever since I cut back on my spending I don't have as much. Love the penny arcade at Commerce though!

Re: Spare change!!!
We need to start doing that too.
Here's an Idea: start a spare change thread where we count our change and post it. It'll be a fun and productive competition

Re: Spare change!!!
I save my spare change, but it takes me sooo long just to get a hundred bucks. I use my debit card for everything so I rarely have cash

Re: Spare change!!!
yay, its sooo easy to save this way. every morning at work, i toss my spare change from the day before into a big round glass vase ... everyone knows its the 'wedding fund' so they drop change in also

Re: Spare change!!!
FH and i do that too. MY aunt bought me a PIggy bank that has Palm trees on it and says Honeymoon fund. When you put change in it, it plays the wedding march. We actually had to cash change in because it was getting too heavy. But we put all the bills back in. We had almost 150. We were so shocked that it added up so quickly. It definitely an easy way to save to extra money.
