Spares? (long registry q)
Did any of you get or register for spares of things that might break/wear out in the future and be discontinued? (glassware, china, etc)
Our glassware is from Crate & Barrel and we got spares of some pieces since they were being discontinued and were on clearance.
Here is a screen shot of part of my C&B registry (as you can see, many pieces were clearanced out and are no longer available since their stock constantly changes):
We originally wanted 4 each of the colored pieces, but decided to make it 6 so we would have 2 spares of each (they wrapped the spares up in tissue and we have them in a box in the closet). Same thing with the wine glasses, we wanted 12 but realize they will be discontinued so we made it 15 and had the spares wrapped up. it says 7 of one glass instead of 6 because i broke one unpacking it from the bag and we bought a replacement![]()
(we actually bought the white wine glasses and colored glass pieces ourselves because we saw they were 'limited quantity' and on clearance, and we were afraid we wouldn't get a complete set)
we also have 3 pieces of 'spare' china but that was not intentional. we were walking past the as-is merchandise in BBB and saw 3 pieces of a 5 piece place setting (the 3 that arent dinner plate or cup) for $5 each. we used coupons so they were $4 each. i guess they are backups just in case?![]()
i ate scrambled eggs on them this weekend. ![]()
Did anyone else think in terms of spares for certain pieces or am i just crazy?
