I purge my clothes at the end of every summer and end of every winter. I also clean out my drawers once a year. I'm not a pack rat, so if I don't use it, I gte rid of it. FH on the other hand, he's a PACK RAT

I have a clutter problem too. We only have 2 clsoets in the house so everything is stuffed in those two closets. We have to store stuff on the side of my bed. Its ridiculous and Fh never wants to throw anything out. He thinks we NEED everything.

I need some good ideas! I'm such a pack rat (I get it from my mom!). We can't throw anything away! I told her we have to start making room for the engagement gifts I've been getting and then eventually for shower gifts!!
I just always think I'm going to need to use whatever it is down the road. Of course that day never comes, but I still think I'll need it!

i am a neat freak and FH is a mess!!!!
I bought a basket for him and i put it by the door so whenever he comes in he throws all his crap in there--mail, basball caps, etc. and then once a month he cleans it out (or i do)
i also keep a piggy bank by the door because FH likes to dump his loose change on the countertops!!!!
THATS OUR HM FUND!!!

OMG I do the same as you and my FH is the same as yours!!! He is slowly selling everything off on ebay (like, all his comic books and GI Joes and toys from the 80s) b/c i told them I don't want ANY of that crap in my apartment. He has made a good chunk of change though

I have recently become this throw everything out kind of person and I must say it is liberating. It is taking me some time and I am making my way through closets, bins full of clothes, papers -- earlier this week I filled up two huge garbage bags of crap to throw out and one bag so far of clothes to give away. If I had two good full days I could probably get through it all but who has that kind of time.
So any other tips on how not to be a pack rat would be greatly appreciated.

I am doing the same thing. Slowly purging. I almost can't wait for the winter, so that I am forced to stay in and finish! LOL! My problem is just figuring out an organizing system that works. It' wierd. My ktichen is organized to precision, I know where EVERYTHING is, but ask me to find anything else, and I find myself shuffling through piles of papers. It *****! and yet my desk at work is spotless and organized. Please someone explain that to me!

i am hardly a neat freak, but he is a MESS..... i ALSO bought a basket for the front door....hats, ipod, etc... AND i also put a piggy bank by the door! you're lucky he tosses his change on the counter. mine tosses it on the bedroom floor, or leaves it in his pocket for me to find in the laundry.

DO IT!! the LIW garage sale, lol, quick, before it gets cold! we have soooooo much craaaaaaaap. i thought i was a packrat till i met FH. biggest. packrat. ever.
we actually have a a LOT of stuff to sell, but we live in an apt complex so we can't have a garage sale.
but i def want to purge before the wedding (we're also moving right before the wedding, so before that, actually)

Re: Speaking of being domestic....
We are quite cluttered, we only have 1 closet in the whole apartment and it is terrible. I had to get astorage b/c there was just to much stuff around. FH is another one that feels he needs everything. He will go to throw five things out and come back w/three I just try to keep it as organized as possible. Basket by the front door and a vase that acts as a piggy bank.
