speaking of bells for kissing at reception...

speaking of bells for kissing at reception...

what is with the tapping of the glasses to make the couple kiss??? we attended a wedding and when it first started we all thought someone was going to make a speech or toast....it took a while to realize it was to make the couple kiss. it became VERY annoying rather quickly. all through the 'meal' abuot 3 people just kept doing it....we were all speechless...and annoyed. the couple would indulge the clanging some...but even they were annoyed.

(this is my take on it...had they been cute little bells and had their been say a set on each table or even one for each guest, i might have felt differently, but tapping on the glasses just got old fast.)

It was foreign to all of us at our table...and we were the only unmarried couple. It was just odd...I'd never heard/seen such a thing before at a wedding. I just wondered about it...I wasn't really condemning it...though it was annoying. FH looked at me and said, 'Are people going to do this at our wedding?' (gulp) i hope not....but that's just me.

I didn't think it was annoying, I thought it was sweet. My Aunt would especially do it whenever she noticed DH & I not with each other. It was a nice reminder to kiss throughout the reception. You get so busy talking eating and dancing. I had known about it, it has been done at every wedding I have ever been to.

Its a tradition that I think is cute , I have no problem kissing my fh , dont need bells, whistels or anything to do it,, Buttt , Im not doing th etapping the glasses, we are gettign the tic tacs with a lil poem that tells everyone to shake the tic tacs when they want us to kiss,, Thought that was cuter

It is a tradition and trust me, it will be done at your wedding as well. I have been to close to 30 weddings and it has been done at every single one.

yikes...someone better tell FH for me b/c he is NOT one for PDA!!!

i have no problem kissing him....but i don't want to feel pressured to do it...he'll have the bigger issue than i will.

Agree. It's truly apart of the wedding. No one I know ever said it was annoying, but to each his own
