Did anyone hear that there was going to be a seminar in the city on how to be gender selective during conception? There's a website link which I'm trying to remember ...
But I was wondering what everyone's feelings were on this topic.
Would you want to CHOOSE the sex of your baby if you could?

Re: Speaking of gender ...
On the whole, I don't really agree with messing w/nature. I oppose the whole cloning issue, too. We are not God, therefore we should not pretend to be. We should use science to cure deadly diseases, not make perfect babies or cloned babies or babies that are the gender of our choice. JMO.
But, I guess there are people out there that maybe only have ONE chance at conceiving, and maybe they would want to choose a little boy or girl. Or, maybe there's a Mom out there that has 3 or 4 of one gender, and she might be taking her last chance at having the little boy/girl she's dreamed of.

Claud, I feel the same way about this being too similliar to cloning. I don't really like the idea of messing around with nature, either. The same way I feel that I don't want to know the sex of my child until its born. It kind of takes the fun out of it!

There are many natural ways to try and increase your chances of one sex over the other. I would try those before I started to mess with sperm. We just do not know the long-term health risks involved.

I also think messing with mother nature isn't good, but there are 'natural' ways to try for one sex or the other. I think I read about it in TCOYF. If you have intercourse several days before you ovulate it's more likely that you will have a girl b/c female sperm swim slower, but live longer. If you DTD the day before or the day you ovulate it's more likely a boy bc they swim faster, but will die quicker.

Niha ... that's what I'd heard, also. I know someone who swears by it & was successful with 3 babies! I'd feel much more comfortable trying our hand that way if we really felt like it was necessary.
