Ok so I see my Great Aunt the other day and in front of everyone on the spot, she asks whether her oldest daughter (my cousin) and her husband are invited to the wedding?
Now here is the deal.I forgot about her. She lives in The Poconos and I am not kidding when I say I don't know her. I don't have her number, don't remember her growing up, have no clue what her husband or children's names are NOTHING! I didn't even realize my aunt HAD another child until 2005 at her other daughter's wedding.
Now I should also note, my great aunt, her husband and her other 3 daughters that I know, talk to and see are all invited.
My Issues:
1) I hate feeling obligated to invite people. 2) I was planning on only inviting my 1st cousins but added her siblings just cause I am close to them. 3) Our guest list has ballooned to over 200. 4) Both FH and I have HUGE families.
I mean what do I do? I know for a FACT that if she were to remarry tomorrow, I would NOT be invited to her wedding and I was only invited to her sisters the wedding the WEEK OF b/c my other cousin didn't go.
My Great Aunt knows how expensive things are and yet basically she has proclaimed that her daughter is invited ....sigh
thoughts?

Re: ...Speaking of Invite Questions
hmmm this is a tough one since you are inviting everyone else but you really don't even know her. I'm not sure what you should do, I can tell you that in my case, since my parents are paying for the reception, we are inviting people we don't know bc my parents know them.
Do you think she would even come if you did invite her? I hate that you would have to invite someone just to keep up appearances with your great aunt, she should not have put you in that spot.
Do what you honestly feel is right, if anyone gets offended then that is their problem.
I'm going to FM you something similar that happened to me the other day...dont want to post just in case of lurkers.

ok, I would normally say not invite her. Dont feel pressured to invite someone you dont even know! But on the other hand you are inviting her entire family so I think you should invite her b/c of that. Your aunt asked if she was invited so she obviously knows you guys arent close.

My Aunt claims she was talking to her about the wedding and my cousin mentioned not getting a STD and she responded oh I am sure you will get one..... sigh. Before I could even respond my aunt goes oh I will send you her address.

I think you should invite her. It's your family, whether or not you're close to them now. You never know what the future holds. Plus, I think it's rude to invite some siblings and not others.
