Speaking of jobs & occupations... How do you feel about your chosen career?

Just wondering how everyone feels about their job.

Most people dont grow up say 'Gee I want to be in insurance when I grow up'

but so far it's been alright. I've changed positions and really learned it's a vast field with lots of options if you're willing to take chances. It definately suits my scientific obessive side! I love details and making nonsense make sense.

I'm a special Education Teacher...I love it. Stress galore sometimes, lots of nights and weekends doing work, but I love it.

I can't imagine doing anything else - me and my career are a very good match.

Im not happy with the company that I work for, so Im sure that has alot to do with me not enjoying my chosen career. I think if I worked for a different company doing the same job then I would enjoy it more.

My side job, I love. I detail cars on the weekends. I have been doing it since 1988. I wish I could open my own shop, but thats just not possible right now. I cannot afford it and I would have to move out of NY to really succeed. It is a tough business especially in the colder months of the year. If I moved out of state it would have to be to some place that it is warm all year round, and I cannot do that either right now. So I will have to stick to detailing on weekends from April till november for now.

love my job...great salary, INTERESTING WORK, great boss, hours totally flexible. Only 1 problem, its downtown which is a bit of a pain, but I can work from home a few days a week if necessary!

I've wanted to be a lawyer since I was 5 years old (actually, I wanted to be a judge, but my parents had to convince me that I had to become a lawyer first, much to my dismay). I don't want to be a judge anymore, but I am definitely in the career I always knew I'd be working in. I never thought I'd be a public interest lawyer, though. The main reason is because I never thought I'd be able to afford to work for such little pay, but the job market is so awful right now that my salary is competitive! And I have excellent, excellent benefits that I wouldn't get elsewhere. I won't be able to stay here for more than a few years because it's really not a living wage that I could support a family on if I had to, and I didn't go to law school to just get by. But I like what I'm doing now, even though it's not what I expected to be doing.

Great question -- If you asked this question three years ago -- I would say I hated my job!!!!! but today I love what I do!!!!

Three years ago I quit my job (everyone thought I was losing my mind) and went to business school full-time.

After being an Accountant for 5 years I needed a change -- I have a new career in Marketing that I love!!!!

I couldn't vote because this isn't my 'chosen' career...I just fell into it.....I have my good days and bad days....lately I hate my job. I love who I work with, but don't like what I do but apparently I'm good at it!! I'm not really sure what I should do about it......

I like what I do, like most of the people I work with no so much my boss, which is what creates more bad days than good. And I get paid well but I hate the commute to Manhattan and in June I am moving further east so thats not going to help!
