Did you ever catch someone doing something inappropriate with a co-worker at one? Or were you guilty of 'decking the halls'?

Re: Speaking of office holiday parties..
I've both caught people, and been involed in 'bad things' at office parties
My old firm was like a soap opera... the amount of hooking up and affairs that went on there even shocked a classless person like me!

Gotta be careful of mixing business with pleasure. (Sometimes because it is 'taboo' makes it more enticing -- just a theory.)

so true. but its the 'taboo' aspect that gets most people 'into' that whole idea... makes it exciting, etc. At my last firm, getting involved with co-workers was a BIG no-no
What WAS bad was that there were a lot of married folks carrying on affairs with colleagues, and THAT is wrong no matter if its an office thing or otherwise.
One of my ex's was a co-worker and we were both single .. so it wasn't scandalous per se. But since his department was technically 'contracted,' by my employer, the fact we were a couple would have been termination for him if it came out. We dated for 3 years and hid it VERY well (though at the holiday parties, it was kinda obvious.. LOL)

Re: Speaking of office holiday parties..
DH and I work at the same company, and have for 6 years.
We only told people we were together when we got engaged in January. People see my last name in email and say, 'Hey, your name is the same as Scott's now!' and I say, 'Yep, he got married too.' Then it takes them a few seconds to catch on.
Our company party is usually tame, it's the after party that is shameful. There is always an 'unoffical' (aka - we are not responsible for anyone's behavior) after party that the whole office goes to and the secretary/boss hook-ups are out of control. It's actually kind of sickening. I've stopped going because I'm in HR and I feel like writing people up for their behavior.

Re: Speaking of office holiday parties..
I've gotten a little tipsy at holiday parties, but I've never done anything to embarass myself. DH and I are going to a party at one of his coworkers huoses tomorrow night and I'm curious to see how his colleagues are.

A few scandals but nothing earth-shattering... An ill-advised hook-up and a wrongly time flash is about how bad I have gotten.
A drunk story or two.. but nothing bad as well.

Oh Lawd, yes I DID tell you that I dated someone at my old firm ... this was a loooooong time ago when I was just a young'un. Selective memory, my dear
No different than your ex that you dated 4 years , and whom I might add you STILL work with
