Speaking of Tipping

FH said that his family generally leaves an additional tip on the table when they go to a party. What do you guys think? Is this standard or something his family does just to be courteous.

At our wedding, my brother in law gave their waiter an additional tip because he said the waiter was incredible...I dont think its standard, but definately great to do if the service is superior!
