What things did you ladies tip for and what did you not tip for? On the site it says the employees cant take tips but then people say they got better service whenthey tipped! Any thoughts?

Re: Speaking of tips...SANDALS
I hear if you stay at all inclusive you should definately tip waitstaff and bar people
even if it says they can't 'accept tips' if they really cant accept it - they won't take it

Lauren, when we were at Excellence some people said that they had been to Sandals and that the workers arent allowed to take tips and they wont take them if you try to give it to them. At Excellence you arent supposed to tip but if you do they will take it.

Re: Speaking of tips...SANDALS
The only people I tipped were people outside the resort, like when we went on excursions - we tipped our horseback riding guide and the tour guide from the zipline.
If someone tells me I'm not allowed to tip I'm not going to go out of my way to do it!
But to be honest we didn't hang out at the bars or anything that much... we'd get one drink and then walk away. Maybe if we'd hung out around there more we would have.

Re: Speaking of tips...SANDALS
Sandals employees can actually be fired if they are caught accepting tips. You should tip anyone NOT an employee though- bus drivers taking you to sandals, luggage guys at the airport and any one working on an excursion. The only exception to the rule is butlers... if you are lucky enough to have a butler suite, you are expected to tip. They are the only employees aloud to accept tips. HTH

Re: Speaking of tips...SANDALS
Dont tip at Sandals, since you are not supposed to. The only person we tipped was our butler
We read and were told by our travel agent that we are not supposed to tip at Sandals, so we brought some cash with us 'just in case.' We totally forgot about tipping the people who helped with our bags to/from Sandals, thank God we had some smaller bills on us as well. In Antigua, the taxis were not run by Sandals so we tipped.
When we got to Sandals we got a flyer in our room that told us they recently 'relaxed the rule about tipping butlers, so if you want to tip them now we can' Again, thank God we brought cash with us!
