Mine was slightly like that and it was SO freakin' annoying in my face!
Also, in our ceremony pics you can't really see my face too much, either, because they're all from the side.

I think that's WAY too much to be worn under an updo. I assume by that you mean sort of at the nape of your neck... not over your face, right? When worn that way, I think you need something a little less fluffy than that...

Is that three layers? How about two if you're wearing it at the back of your head? Or if you want one as a blusher, you can have it attached with velcro and remove it so the back doesn't get so puffy.
