Special dances at reception

Special dances at reception

We really are not comfortable with being out on the dance floor alone so here is what we came up with:

1- bride/groom dance to half the song, then dj invites wedding party to join us on the dance floor for the rest of the song.

2-bride/dad dance a few verses together, then grrom/mom join for a few verses, then dj invites the rest of the guests to join.

Has anyone ever seen it done this way? Will this look stupid?

My father hates dancing so when my sister got married and she said do you have a song you want to dance to he said 'a short one'. Knowing he felt silly my sister had her and my father dance for a couple of verses and then my mother went out with one of my brothers and I went out with my other brother. I think it looked sweet and 'spur of the moment' even though it wasn't.
