typically, does a specialty teacher (like reading, gifted, etc..) make more or less money than a regular classroom teacher?
I might have just gotten a job as a gifted specialist in a district, but I have no clue about salary.... hmmm....
anyone know?

I would think it would be the same, but I could be wrong. The extra $$ might come in if you are doing after school things in addiiton to your regular duties.

I teach special ed. I do not make any more or any less than my non-special ed counter parts. Most salaries are based on years of experience and the degrees you hold. I have certificates in elementary and special education and never in my years of applying here and there was I ever offered more money because of my specialty. It simply makes you more marketable as a professional.

In my district, there is no difference.
I get paid based on a sliding scale where my years working + degrees/college credits = higher pay
This year I was making 44,000....next year I will be bumped up to 46,000 because it is plus one more year and 6 more credits towards my masters
