have you ever been to a wedding where there has been a lot of time on speeches? I am kinda worried b/c FHs parents are talking about making a speech (in addition to the best man's speech) at the wedding together. at our engagement party his parents made a half hour speech. dont get me wrong i would love a speech my FHs parents, but i am worried that it will go on too long and people maybe like w t f? i know there is no polite way to say dont talk for too long....

Re: speeches
I would give everyone a time limit so they know how much they can talk. Just tell them the band or DJ mentioned that it would be best to keep the talk down to a minimum to keep the party moving. I have been to weddings where there was a lot of speeches and eventually i just tuned them out. People started sitting down during the speech and stopped listening.

do you think that will sound rude if i say that? FHs parents flew all the way over from Australia, and i think it may be a tradition there. also his dad does a lot of uhs during the speech.
