I am planning to say a few words before handing out the gifts to my bridal party. I am starting to worry it will be too emotional when I give my dad's gift. I just started fretting about this today!!! Everyone knows what a shy girl I am; I always have FH do all the talking. Anyone else doing this a wee bit nervous?

why don't you write your thoughts down on paper-- that way, you can stare at the paper to get through it- and you won't forget to say anything..
Also, make sure you have a little wine beforehand

I want to do the same thing before I present my dad with his special gift too but I know that I will probably get too emotional.

I cried during almost all of my speeches at the RD! Its okay - everyone understands

We did this at our engagement party and I was a mess. I had to say 2 lines!! THAT'S IT..Just two simple lines and I was a mess!!!
Just suck it in! Truly!

My FH and I want to make a speech thanking everybody, but I also want to make a speech about why I love FH so much and want to marry him....but FH does not want to do that because he is afraid he will cry too much (I am too - but thats to be expected from me)
I think people expect you to be emotional, so if you want to make a speech to the people you really care about - do it and dont worry about the tears flowing! Although if it is stressing you out so much, maybe write it in a card and give it to them at the RD.

Well I wish I could say I sucked it up and did my RD speeches in a composed manner.. but the minute I looked at everyone and started with my 'thank yous' as I was holding their gifts, I just started tearing up
Not to mention, I SUCK at giving speeches and the like, so I was nervous as heck
Trust me , it happens and you should NOT worry Everyone will be moved and will love you all the more for it when they see how much they mean to you!
[Heck, the RD was the EASY part for me .. when we did speeches to honour our parents at our wedding reception, I BAWLED uncontrollably !! ]
