My FI got a ticket in Nassau County. He was doing 40 in a 30 mph zone. this is the first time that he has gotten a ticket in Nassau County. I called b/c the amount of the fine was not listed on the ticket. They said that there is no set fine for speeding. He can plead guilty by mail and he will receive a bill in about 6 months.
has anyone else receive a speeding ticket in Nassau? If so can you tell me how much the fine was.
I asked the woman for a range for the fine. She said there is no range, it is at the discretion of the judge.

Re: SPEEDING TICKET QUESTION
If it is at the discretion of the judge, i would hope it would not be too much for going 40 in a 30! That is BS!

Re: SPEEDING TICKET QUESTION
That is ridiculous! The cop just really wanted to give the ticket because my husbands cop friends always tell him that if he goes 10 miles over the speeding limit its ok and cops will not pull over for that.

Yeah...I thought it was ridiculous. Pretty annoying that he has to pay a fine. But what can you do...

Re: SPEEDING TICKET QUESTION
I wouldn't just send the ticket in - I would set a hearing (or whatever) with the judge. I think if the effort is made to see the judge in person, the fine is usually lowered or the speeding ticket is changed to something else (with a lower, or no, fine) - especially if the person is a first time offender. JOM, though.
