Can anyone give me a rough estimate of how much spending $ we'll need in Hawaii - we're thinking 8 nights right now - staying in Kaui and Maui. We heard food is wicked expensive, plus we want to be adveturous - helicopter tour, Road to Hanna, snorkeling, biking, etc.

the food alone was about $1300.00 (it will depend where you will eat of course)... I think we spent about $2000.00...

We estimated 2500 for food and activities for both of us for 2 weeks but it was more like 3,800.
Helicopter in Kauai = 400 Plane in Maui to Big Island = 600
Car rental extras = 600 (insurance, extra driver and gas)

We're thinking at least $3,000, if not more. We also tried to get a rough idea of the cost of activities by checking out this site: www.hawaiiactivities.com.

hawaii can get really expensive, its like nyc . jsut for like meals and drinks for 8 days we spend like 3,000 and then activities can cost more but worth every single penny

Hmm..between spa appointments (2), two car upgrades, no lunches but excellent dinners at the best restaurants (did our research before & during our trip), excursions, tipping, etc
probably close to $4,000-5 extra. We couldn't believe it when we added it up - but well worth it! We tried to live it up and the massages were pretty expensive.
