Spending the weekend in NYC

Spending the weekend in NYC

For those that saw me complain about working in nyc.. Well FH wants to spend the weekend here! I don't mind hanging out in the city just working in it is a pain in my a$$!!
Anyway, anyone know where we can find a good and reasonable hotel that we have our own bathroom. I was shocked to see NYC does the same as Europe with the sharing br's. EEEK! Doesn't matter where the hotel is but best if in the more busy areas.

Or where I can look for last minute nyc hotel deals.
Thanks.

We stayed at the Renaissance by Times Sq it was $179 a night. It was really nice. Try www.hotelrooms.com you can get some good prices.

Are you looking for a hotel or a bed and breakfast. Ive never heard of a hotel sharing a bathroom.

Becareful of 'hotels' that are really meant for drifters as opposed to tourists. If it sounds too cheap to be true, it probably is.

RobeyMuse - I second the Paramount....We got a really good rate there a couple weeks ago for my friend bachelorette party!!!

The Hudson was booked, but would have been around the same price if they have a room!

Good Luck!

Try the Washington Square Hotel. I don't have their number, but many guests of NYU stay there with no complaints. It's nothing fancy but I've heard it's clean and since it's in the village at least you'll be near restaurants and transportation.

Jenny5150...while agree with you re: Ian Schrager hotels....Pricewise, they are decent.
I tried for a room at the W Union Sq. and it was still really pricey...

The Helmsley on 42nd usually has decent rates
I have someone staying at the Dylan right now and he told me its wonderful - $189.00/night

Sage: the thing is you can get a more comfortable/luxurious room for the same price somewhere else....especially on the internet. Lots of hotels do 'internet promos', even the high-end 5-star hotels.

Stef I was browsing around and seeing sharing bathrooms or mini-private bathrooms on a few places. I don't remember whether they were actual bed and breakfasts or hotels. I just saw 'share br' and I clicked to the next place right away. Never knew B&B existed in the city.

I am trying to get a hold of one of my friends who gets all these crazy travel deals but she is working... She told me about staying at the Waldorf for $149 per night! You really can't beat that, I don't think.
We stayed at the Pennsylvania Hotel once and it was outdated to me. So something a bit nicer would be better. The lobby area was nice... but not the room. So we are looking for something better than that.
I actually like the Ian Shraeger places from the site. But are the rooms really small??

Schraeger's room are small...like cubbies!
You can upgrade to larger rooms, but you end up paying a bit more for them. The bathrooms are tiny too. I always feel like I'm gonna' bang my elbows on the walls!

Jenny - I know, that's where I booked the rooms...but a few weeks ago, even online I couldn't get a good rate anywhere it seemed.

I book all my travel and hotels online, trust me!

CW - at the Waldorf, your friend might be talking about employee suites. I had a friend that was the events manager at the waldorf and used to get me these tiny teenie rooms for really cheap....

Be careful with that, they are even smaller than at Ian Schrager.....(which I don't mind so much)

The last thing I need is to have FH complaining that he is bumping to the walls since they are so close to him! LOL
The Waldorf special was from some site. Hmmm sometimes it is too good to be true I guess.
