Does anyone have the phone number for the Spin Around Sound office in Garden City. (They have one in Garden City? Right?)

I have it at home. Try Tom's cell phone, you should be able to get him or leave a meesage Cell (917) 449-7746
...and I think he was moving too.
Yes he is moving.. I found the fastest way to get him is to email him through their website.
Actually, I met with him last night - he did move already, so I would try his cell - if you leave a message, he'll call you right back.
Did you happen to get a music list???
Yes he was moving - to Oceanside, if I remember correctly.
Actually, he moved to Sayville- the ONLY reason I know this is because I just spoke with him!
Anyway, no Kate, we did not get a music list. I did ask if one was available, since I read previous comments here, but to be honest, I`m actually surprised any DJ puts those lists together. If you think about it, I cannot imagine how many songs/CD`s they most own as a company. I would think you give them a list of songs/artists you do and don`t want to hear, and they`ll go off that. Tom did tell me that he has just about every popular song within the past 7-8 decades. If I do reguest a song to be played that is not mainstream, he said he would let me know ahead of time if he had it.
Are you using them as well?
Teri That sounds reasonable, however he showed me his old list in December and said that I could have one once I booked. Once I did, he said he was putting a new one together to b ready in January. Still waiting. People who haven't even booked were able to get his old list. I'd like to have something to get ideas from. There are loads of songs I'd love to hear but don't think of them until I hear them or see them on paper. Its just annoying, don't wave this thing in front of my face, then not give it to me.
As one who is just starting her search for vendors, I am curious about this DJ. How are the prices? Where did you hear about them? Did you hear their work or went by recommendation. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated...thanks in advance!!
We used him in Sept. of last year. We did have to keep on him to send the music list, and we did have to supply some of the music ourselves. When we booked him, he assured us that ethnic music wouldn’t be a problem, but he ended up calling a week before the wedding to ask us to bring some of our own music. He said it wouldn’t be smart for him to buy music he’d only use once or twice. That upset me a bit, because he didn't give us much advanced notice that he didn't have the music and I felt that our wedding wasn’t worth him buying new music for. We did end up bringing some of our own music (and after I emailed him and told him how upset I was, he did go out and buy a bunch of cd’s). “Our song” was a hard to find song, so we were more than happy to bring that ourselves.
He did play almost all the music we had requested, and people seemed to enjoy themselves. We had a small daytime wedding, so the floor wasn’t packed all the time, but not because the music wasn’t good.
I attributed his flightiness to the fact that he was planning his own wedding at the time and was probably as stressed as we were. Even though I was a bit upset at the time, I do think he did a good job and I would recommend him.
Sure planning a wedding and running a business is stressful, but we all work. He is now 'busy' because he just bought a new house, well so are we, AND planning a wedding, AND working just like him. Maybe he should be hiring an assistant to help him get organized if all this business is getting him flustered.
They are excellent. The prices are in the upper range of the DJ's that are available, but they were worth the money. We used them for our wedding in January, and we were very happy with the results. Tom was very accomodating with scheduling meetings - considering the number of meetings we ended up canceling and rescheduling. Their play list is quite comprehensive and they will find anything you ask for. Everyone raved about the music selection. I would definitely recommend them.
I'm not excusing his behavior I totally agree with you.
He did a good job on the day of the wedding, and that was the most important thing, but the added stress asking us for music at the last minute and all left a bad impression.
That was just my experience.
Overall I`ve heard nothing but great things about SAS, and I think partly because of all the rave reviews they receive from this site, they are flooded with business. I think he does a lot of the work himself, so they`re probably ridiculously busy. Granted, that`s great for them, and if the song list is their only flaw, I`ll be a happy bride! We`re not going be requesting music that`s not mainstream, so we should be set.
I used them for my 5/5 wedding and my girlfriend used them for her 6/30 wedding. Neither of us has any complaints and both of us had a slightly different 'style' to our wedding. As far as Tom being busy and the song list, I really wouldn't stress too much about it. As you get closer, you realize you don't really need it. I had his 'old' list and I think I looked at it once when I booked him and tossed it aside, never to look at it again...I made my own list of Play/Don't Play and they really stuck to that. They are very careful about finding out your style and taste. Just from personal experience, I would worry more about creating your own list to give HIM ideas, than vice versa. Although promising the list and not delivering is a little rude, believe me you made a good choice!!
