Spin-off from my problem thread - hair/makeup trials

I already booked one hair and make-up trial and they told me that brides usually schedule their trials when they have a special event to go to.. so I scheduled it for March 27, 2010 because I'll be in my friend's bridal party.

That's 5 months away!

I'm concerned because I want to set-up other trials. By the time my March trial comes around and if I hate it and want to book a different vendor, they might already book with someone else.

When did you girls schedule your trials? Did you wait for a special event? How far is too long to wait??

When I planned my wedding I had 7 mos to do it lol. I had 4 makeup and 2 hair trials total. I didn't wait for a special event bec I didn't have time to wait. Most brides arrange trials before a special event so that they can get as much mileage out of them as possible because trials can get expensive...makes sense, but if you are worried that your first choice will be booked and you want to get them out of the way, I say go ahead and book other trials whether or not you have a special occasion or not.

One I did before my engagement party, the others I didn't have a special event.

I didn't arrange mine to be at a special event either. I am too worried that I won't find someone for the day of and I am just scheduling them for whichever day I want.

im having a hair/m/u trial before my brother's wedding but otherwise i wont really have any events to go to for my trials. dont wait! if anything have FH take you out to dinner!

I got my makeup done for my e-pics. Then again, I also had a very good idea of the person I wanted to do my makeup.

Look at other girl's makeup trials. That will give you an idea of the work an artist does. Thats a big reason how I found my makeup artist.
