I'm jewish and FH is Catholic. It is EXTREMELY important to him to have a Catholic Marriage License. I spoke to my dad's friend who is a priest and he told me I can call Rockville Centre and they will give us some kind of form that will have the marriage blessed by the Catholic Church. I almost was thinking of bringing FH to a church and getting married just us and our parents after the wedding but I don't know if that is possible. You still have to do pre cana right? We're raising our kids Catholic and I just want FH to have this for his own piece of mind.

Re: Spin off of JAAMS Cath Church Question
It's a permission slip for an Interfaith marriage. I had to do one as we were getting married in a Catholic church but DH is Episcopal. It's simple. My priest had us fill it out, then he sent it to the diocese. A week later we had the approval.

We did the same thing, it basically states how you will raise your children Catholic, or at least thats the one my DH had to sign. Either way we still had to do precana to get married in the church.
eta: but maybe since you are not getting married in the church you don't need to do precana???

Re: Spin off of JAAMS Cath Church Question
Well our official marriage on our marriage license for NY would be at the RH but I was wondering if FH and I decided AFTER our wedding to get married at the church would we have to do pre-cana.
thanks girls! Laura, did you do that after or before your wedding?

Before. We did it when we booked the church.

What you could do is a 'convalidation ceremony' where the marriage is recognized in the eyes of the Catholic church. You basically received the sacrament of marriage through the Catholic church...however, I'm not sure how that works if one of you is Jewish. I would probably talk to the church about that.
