I also have a wedding 2 weeks after my due date. I was in the wedding party - and when I got pregnant I backed out. My husband is still in the wedding party and my whole family is invited (and going) to the wedding as well. (we are very close to this couple.
Assuming the baby is born on or around the due date - should I go to the wedding (its local) bring the baby and hope between me and my parents we can maybe watch the baby in another room? Is 2 weeks to young to be around others?
** PLease no comments on how selfish I am for wanting to bring a little baby - the bride and groom reached out to me and told me they would love it if the baby were there.

2 weeks may be a little too young to have your baby around so many different people. You dont want the little one to catch a cold at such a young age. JMO

I kind of agree only because everyone is going to want to touch and hold her as opposed to say going out to dinner where people won't be all over you.

I'm not positive - but I do think 2 weeks is to soon to have the baby around a large amount of people - everyone is going to want to hold him/her. I don't think you are selfish for wanting to be a part of your friends day! Also, its 2 weeks from your due date - what if you are late? I was a week late with my son, and I know after having a full episiotomy I was not wanting to go anywhere for a couple weeks myself! Good Luck in whatever you decide, but I would check with a pediatrician and see what they say about it being to early or not.

I guess Im the only one who says to go... People (as long as you say something) wont touch the baby or be in the babies face. Most people understand about germs and newborns. Cold and flu season is almost over. It would be good to get out... of course if you feel up to it. You are going to be tired and learning how to cope with a newborn.
Of course I say this because I brought both my children out when they were 9 and 11 days old. You just keep them away from obvious sickies, dont touch things then touch the baby and you can continue to live your life.
I brought Emma to my cousins wedding when she was 4 months. It was nice outside (Atlantica Wedding) and we sat outside and watched the festivities from a distance while still being there to celebrate with family. JMO.

Re: spin off of Jimmy's Bride's - wedding question
I was recently at a wedding where the Bride and Grooms best friends were in your EXACT situation. Husband staying in the BP and wife dropping out.
They brought the baby with them to the reception. Honestly my MIL and I had a heart attack!! They were wheeling the 9-day-old around the room!! I'm not saying that you are going to do that, but there were drunk people all around the baby and it just freaked me out. I didn't like that all those people were looking in her carriage, touching her and breathing on her. It's hard to control people. Plus there was SO much noise no matter where you went.
DH and I talked about this after to see what we would have done in that situation. We would have not brought the baby. We would have split up the day so that both of us could go to the wedding, DH go to some (the church especially) and then come home and switch with me so I could go. So we would both be able to enjoy the wedding, be there for our friends all while protecting our baby.
ETA- I just asked DH and their baby was 9 days old... not even 2 weeks.

I'm with Cheryl on this one. My SIL brought her six month old son to our wedding and she did nothing but complain about how many people approached her to see him, how the music was too loud, how she was 'worried' about him being around the drunk and rowdy people there. It was ridiculous. My thought? HE should have never been there! She was even b!tching about people smoking in the foyer of the place. I would never want my two week old around that kind of situation. Like one poster said, you can't control people. I have enough problems at 10 months controlling idiots who walk over and want to 'touch' the baby. Maybe can your inlaws or some other trusted friend/family member watch the baby for a few hours?

Thats just the thing you would THINK ppl would know not to touch a newborn but trust me, they dont. PPl go for there hands and face.. it could be someone who smells smoky. the music can be loud... It stinks to not be able to do things you want to do when you have a newborn but thats part of being a parent.. doing whats BEST for the baby. Maybe your parents can stay home with the baby so you and your husband can go?

Noise isn't really an issue for newborns. My 3.5 week old baby sleeps through fire engines driving by - and thats a sudden noise. Constant noise actually can be calming -- they tell you to vacuum if you have a fussy baby.
With the wedding being local, I would consider giving it a try to go. (Although I'd expect to leave early.) I agree that you don't want people touching her, so just be ready with a line like 'she just got out of the hospital and the doctor said she should not be touched' to tell people to back off. Consider 'wearing her' in a baby bjorn/sling. People will be much less comfortable reaching without asking if shes against you, and she'll be nice and cozy.

I would never allow all of those people to try to hold the baby and such at that young age. JMO.

I would not bring a baby that young to such a big event. The people, the noise, it's just going to be too much. You're still going to be adjusting to life with a newborn. And IMO it's way too many germs. You might think people wont touch the baby, but they will.

Re: spin off of Jimmy's Bride's - wedding question
Please do not take your baby to a crowded wedding when he or she is only 2 weeks old....your baby's immune system is not ready to fight off any illnesses that someone may have at the wedding.
If you do not have someone you trust to leave the baby with then you should stay home with the baby.
