I try to get to gym 3-5 days a week for about an hour. Each time i pick either legs, back or arms, then do abs and then 30 min cardio (interval on ellip, or 4.0 on tread with 5-10 incline).
is that enough to really tone up?

Re: spin off of weight loss tips...
Ideally, you want at least 30 minutes, most days in the week.

yeah it really depends what you're looking to do. A half hour for me wasn't enough because I was looking to lose.
I think the major toning thing is the weight training -- it's the one thing that really made a significant difference for me.

I think it all depends on the person, their food intake and also what you want to do. If it's for weight loss or to maintain what you look like now. Everyone is differenet I think!

Re: spin off of weight loss tips...
also a general rule i've found for myself when it comes to weight loss is its 80% food intake and only 20% exercise... if i really want to LOSE i just need to eat less
overexercising can increase your appetite without revving up your metabolism and undo all your hard work
but again, just toning up is another story

it also has a lot to do with intensity also. I do high intensity for 30 mins 5 days a week and have lost 45 pounds so far.....

The more time and higher intensity you do the more likely you will be to lose weight. And I def agree that weight training after cardio is a must!!

I agree. I think everyone thin or thick needs 30 min of aerobic exercise a day. just for better health overall.
I do 5 days of cardio a week at the gym and 4 days of weight training and I through in a Zumba class once a week if I can. I HATE using a tredmill or something. I so rather do a class.
