spin off to ali's pregnancy post...
ok if any of you read ali's pregnancy post she mentioned that a family member asked if she were preggers (the nerve)... which made me realize just how often family members bring up the P word.
about a year or two ago (maybe longer) I was wearing this shirt that was tight on top and eventually flared out... I had my period, so I was SUPER bloated.. my father was talking to me with his back to me, says 'i know i'm not supposed to ask this but...' (turns around) 'are you pregnant' I flipped.. then he said that's not what he meant to ask.. he meant to ask something about my brother that he wasn't supposed to bring up but when i looked at me he noticed i was 'popping'
skip ahead to last november (2008) FIL's invited my parents to their house for FH's birthday dinner... everyone was talking about the wedding as we had gotten engaged that july and it was the first time his family and my parents were together since and it was the first time my mother had seen FH's newest niece, so the talk of babies was in the air... which my mother announced to FH's conservative/traditional family that she would LOVE it if i 'got knocked up asap'- she has since denied saying that
skip ahead to this past november, same conversation is brought up (because FSIL is preggers again)... my mother denies ever saying above. everyone becomes uncomfortable and drops coversation.
skip ahead to christmas eve, friend of the family is visiting for an hour, he works out of state... his newest niece was born a few months ago, so we're chatting about her, he then asks if i'll name my kids an irish name (for me) or italian (for FH).. I said I have a girls name picked out, and thats that.. and boys names we NEVER agree on.. I've always liked Brenden-James Edward.. FH hates it, as does my father (which confuses me)... but I like Italian names (like Enzo and Demitiri, Dante, Stefen) and FH doesn't. so we start talking baby names and DATES...
skip ahead to christmas day, FH and I are alone at his brother and sisterinlaws, FBIL mentions that my hair looks different, FSIL agrees, I say that I haven't touched it since FH proposed OVER A YEAR AND A HALF AGO, and I don't want to before the wedding, I want virgin hair... FSIL replied 'thats something pregnant women do' and gives me a look.... I told her that I just want to be 'all natural' for the wedding, by all natural I mean my natural color, no perm but I plan on having extensions, my acrylic nails and false eyelashes
skip ahead to day after christmas, FILs are over, someone brings up kids... and the conversation goes on... FMIL turns to me and says (in her heavy italian accent) 'well if you've made it this far, you can wait another ten months'...
she ended up REPEATING that a few minutes later... like its ME who's influencing her son to do the dirty
so yea, I just wanted to share... any of you ladies have parents that are too eager to be grandparents?
any comments made that you look preggers, meanwhile you've LOST weight?
