Is anyone worried about the way people will dress at your wedding? I wasnt, because I figured people would know to dress nicely for a Saturday night wedding, but after reading the thread and seeing that people wear jeans, I'm worried! My cousin's husband would SO be that guy....

I'm not sure if I will put that on the invites, but my friend did for her wedding. Her husband manages a bar and invited some friends from there and wasnt sure if theyd dress appropriately.

I'm not putting it on mine.
If people show up dressed like they're going to the supermarket, then that's their own demons to deal with, not mine. I have faith that people will dress appropriately, and if they don't, they will soon learn that pictures last forever.

I am going to give people the benefit of the doubt and hope and assume they know how to dress properly to attend a wedding.....if not, I have enough to deal with, its their problem.

Actually, this is really funny - FH is INSISTING on black tie optional, only b/c when we first went to the RH, it was an afternoon wedding and people were dressed casually and he did not want that (meanwhile, totally diff situation b/c our wedding is at night...but whatev).
So now we're BTO. I'm putting it on the reception card b/c there's a big break in between the ceremony and reception, and if people want to be more casual for the church, that's more than OK.

I am not concerned.
I really think that most people know how to dress for a wedding, and if they don't, what can I do? Its not something that is important to me.

We put it b/c FH and I have a bunch of old 'club' friends and were afraid they will show up with their mohawk and studded t-shirts and fist pump like they are at neptunes... could be fun to watch though

Re: Spin off to black tie optional on BHB
we did not put black tie optional on our invites.
& yes i am very concerned with how some people are going to be dressed at our wedding. one of my friends dresses like a 16 year old still, actually i am pretty sure the outfits she wears are from when we where 16. & another friend told my sister that she plans on wearing her engagement party dress to out wedding. it was nice for her engagement party but i think it shows way too much cleavage for a guest at a wedding.

I'm not. People should know how to dress for a wedding. If they don't that's their problem, and they'll look like the a-holes.

Re: Spin off to black tie optional on BHB
I am not worried that people will dress inappropriately, but we put Black Tie Optional on the invitations so that people would know its an option, but not required (we had gotten asked a bunch of times whether it was going to be black tie only). I really don't think its offensive in any way and a lot of time people appreciate guidance on how dressy to be.

Re: Spin off to black tie optional on BHB
so funny, I see I am one of the only ones on here that is extremely concerned with how ppl will dressed. we def put on the invite black tie optional.
I guess my concerns comes from attending all the weddings back home, where more than half of the guests come dressed worse than when they go clubbing: t-shirts, wife beeters, torn jeans, old khaki pants that went out of style in the 80's.
so when planning the wedding here I want it to be totally different from over there. hope the Americans wont disappoint me hehe

Re: Spin off to black tie optional on BHB
I think I am going to have to put this on my invites even though my wedding is an afternoon wedding.
My cousin (on my dad's side) did this out of fear of how they would show up at the reception! Plus, we are having a number of people from out of state come to the wedding - and I know they aren't very familiar with NY weddings.
Also, FH is very into making this a classy even, I know he would DIE if someone showed up in jeans....AND he would blame me for this problem!

Nobody I know will dress too casually for my wedding, I can't even imagine people being so stupid!
