spin off to my 'how many' post

So ladies, reading the comments on my post about yarmulkes and having non-jewish men wear them poses another question for me....

I hate to sound ignorant, but...being jewish, if I attend a church wedding am I supposed to kneel on the kneelers during certain prayers?
I have not been to many non-jewish weddings but i did not kneel at the one i went to last year and now I am thinking that perhaps it came across as disrespectful which was not my intention at all. I of course know not to take communion however I am uncertain about kneeling.
Can you please tell me what is appropriate or not so I dont disrespect anyone in the future

TIA

1/2 of my family is jewish and while they come to church on holidays with my family to respect their spouses/children, etc., none of them kneel or take communion. totally normal

Well of course no one who is not Catholic should take communion...

I don't think you need to kneel. When we kneel in church it is out of reverence to the presence of the body and blood of Christ. That's not your God, so I would not expect you to kneel. I would expect someone to stand and sit when others do. In general in church, we kneel as I said earlier in the presence of the body of Christ and we stand when praying.

My FH sits and stands at church but does not kneel. He gets up and gets out of the aisle to get out of the way to let other people get communion and get back into the aisle, and just sits quietly and reverently.

I think that's the most important thing. To just understand what the mass is for Catholics and what the consecration and trie presence means and to act in an appropriately reverent manner. Not reverent to Jesus, if you don't believe, but reverent based on the meaning of the situation to others.
ETA: You may want to kneel to be polite, but if you don't believe in Jesus, you might see it as bowing to a false God, or a God beside your own, which is why I would never expect a non Christian to kneel

ok thanks ladies!
I do the standing & sitting, and shaking your neighbors hands etc just not the kneeling. I am happy to know i am not offending anyone bc that was not my intention at all

I think it is up to you....I have Jewish friends that use it as an opportunity simple to pray and reflect, while others opt not to kneel.

I don't think there is a right or wrong answer!

I don't think you are being disrespectful by not kneeling. Not everyone knows what to do in another religion, you know? I had to give my Jewish friend a 'play-by-play' at the last church wedding we went to, she had no idea what I was pulling out from the floor when it was time to kneel ... To make her feel more comfortable, I didn't kneel every time, this way she didn't feel like the only one.
