i thought that things said in 'private' (and i know i'm using the word loosely) were 'safe'???!!!
i got an fm from someone about a vendor... why was the company name erased???
does this mean that we have to take our comments 'outside' so we can be honest??
i'm quite disappointed

some vendor's names are 'taboo' on the site - if there was an issue between LIW and that vendor that was negative, then the name of that vendor gets blocked out. There are a few I can think of offhand that get the **** treatment.

yup even in FM's. if you type out the right way.... M i a from br i da l loun ge , even in an FM--it gets ********* .
remember--your FM's are 'private' from other users...but the moderators on this site can access them with no problem.

i know that it's not 100% private, but i really thought that they were respected.
i just feel a bit let down right now... granted my wedding is over, and what someone else says doesn't carry much weight to me. i just thought that fm's were respected.

I think that's an automatic feature - They're not reading your forum mail and editing the messages!

Exactly, just like curse words, the lettering itself is blocked out no matter if its in a post of fm. There are certain vendors that have asked LIW to block their own names to avoid brides posting about them. There was one particular photographer that started getting a pretty bad rap due to a few unhappy brides. Without any problems from LIW itself, he asked that his own name and his studio be blocked from any further damage.
