Have you ever had an abortion....this is strictly a yes / no poll.....

I actually thought it would be a close one. It seems like it is taboo to talk about, but it IS happening.......

I'm curious to know how many of those women who did have abortions are now Pro-Life/Pro-Choice, to be honest.

Me too. Did having one affect your viewpoint? I guess we'll never know.

ETA: I don't mean you personally...that came out wrong!

OK, i'll bite, I had one and I do not regret it for one minute. Well I guess I do regret that I put myself in that position but I do not regret my choice. I did what was right for me. And I am DEFINITELY still pro-choice.

good for you- and thank you for having the courage to tell us

I have not had one- by shear luck- but I would have had one if I needed one

Steph, I'm really impressed by the courage you must have to come forth and tell us.

I don't know if I could've handled that decision.

I'm not sure everyone is being truthful or even voting. But Steph, your courage and honesty is refreshing!

Stephanie, thanks for your honesty. I haven't had one, but if I had, I'd like to think that reading your post would have given me the courage to speak up, too. I can't imagine the feelings and thoughts involved

Re: Spin-off to R vs W post

no, but pro-choice all the way. there is this quote by abe lincoln that i think sums it up:
i may not agree with what you say, but i'll defend to the death your right to say it.

I didn't see the original post. I'm a lawyer, yet is still took me several minutes to figure out what 'R vs W' meant. I finally got it!!

Anyway, I've never had an abortion but in the past year or so, a few of my friends have confided that they have (I already knew of one, but that's it). I guess it got easier to talk as we got older.

Re: Spin-off to R vs W post

Never had one. I couldnt answer if I would or if I wouldnt to be honest. It would have depended where I was in my life. I always considered myself to be pro-choice because to think that someone else has control over my body is a terribly Orwellian concept to me. However, at this stage of my life, if someone were to tell me I had a baby in my belly before I was ready to have it financially or otherwise, I couldnt terminate a pregnancy. I have too much support from family and we'd find a way to give this child a chance. What others choose to do, is not for me to judge - nor anyone else.
