We are having a: DJ MC Lighting Tech Dinner singer Jazz Trio throughout the evening . . .
Our total DJ cost is about 4500. . . how much do I tip?
Also, my hair person is charging $250 just for MY hair, an hour appointment. I'm sure it will be great and I'll love it, but that seems like twice the average amount other hairstylists charge and its her own business. How much tip is required?
I feel like we are paying top dollar for our vendors, the tips being a % of that are going to really be expensive. . . TIA

Re: Spin-off to tipping DJ/MC / expensive vendors:
no, tips aren't really based on a percentage when it comes to weddings.
remember also that you don't HAVE to tip anyone if you don't want to. you also technically don't need to tip people who own their business (like your hair person - if she's getting paid and keeping the entire amount, you don't need to tip, according to a Knot article)

I want to tip, because I'm sure I will be very happy with the services provided, but I wish I knew what was considered good/acceptable. I don't want to over or under tip.

I'm not tipping the hair and make-up people because they're doing this on the side - it's not their main job - so all the money they charge is going into their pockets anyway. My hair person is also expensive, $200.

Yes! And they will be playing during the down times, during dinner, etc. Do I tip each member a certain amount? I think so . . .

This is helpful. I think I'd tip each member of the Jazz Trio more, probably like $50 ea? Hopefully my parents are taking care of the bridal attendatn, maitre d, bartenders, valets, etc.

usually bartenders, valets, and waiters and included in the RH cost (double check with your RH obviously)
i'm honestly not sure about the jazz trio ... $50 each may be better ...
i am trying to keep my numbers down since tips add up really quickly (i think i'm at $1200)
oh, if you're having a photobooth, you need to tip that person too (prob $20-50)

My assumption is I know who your D.J. is as provided by the info you gave... if so, I have the same ones and am planing to tip the DJ and MC for the entire night about $75 - $100 each depending on the service they provide. We replaced the dinner singer with a sax player, bt him and the Trio are only playing for like an hour so i was thinking $25 - $30 each, again based on the service...
I don't have a lighting tec, but I have a Zap guy who we'll prob throw like $50.
