spin-off...Are you FH First True Love??

He had first love (lust) in high school, but as far as real true love where you are not afraid to be yourself and you don't put on any airs or try to be someone you are not just to impress, we are each other's first love. We are the first people the other has felt so comfortable around that we can go unshaven (his face, my legs), messy hair, sweaty, even...burp and pass gas (oh my! )

I think I am. He really only had one serious relationship before he met me and he waited a long, long time to get married so I would say yes!

My DH says he thought he was in love before, until he met me and realized what love really is.

So I suppose that's like being his True Love.

Although I'm not really sure it matters. The other thread got me thinking about this. Whether or not my DH is my first love, or my one true love, or whether I'm his, it does'nt matter. He's the love of my life NOW. I'm the love of his life NOW.

Maybe it's because we're older (I'm 33, he's 36), and by that time you've had more life experience (and love experience). The idea of only ONE love or one true love becomes unrealistic and almost naieve in a way. By the time you've hit your 30s, if you haven't been married, you've loved more than once! That doesn't mean one was TRUE and the others are not.

I don't want to compare my DH to other relationships I've had in the past. He's unique and special, and our relationship is also unique. I can't look back and say, 'Well, I felt this way about X but not about Y, and Z treated me like this but DH doesn't...' I think it's unhealthy. Each relationship we have, each time we fall in love, it will be a completely different feeling and different experience because it's with a different person!

My relationship with DH has a deep and special quality to it that I've never experienced before. But it's not the only 'true' love I've known.
