Re: SPINOFF- Am I cheap?
I voted no. I gave my readers gifts & corsages but they were immediate family members and I wanted to spoil them. I was a reader once and didn't even get a corsage. It's a personal choice that you should make. I don't think if you get something it's better and I don't think if you don't get something for them it's bad. Really, if it's about $$ or principal, don't sweat it. It's not a big deal at all. All they do is get up, read two paragraphs and sit down again. I don't think it requires a gift.

Actually, now that I think of it, I was a reader a few times, and I didn't get a gift and I really didn't mind at all. Our readers were a niece and nephew, so I did it because I wanted to.

Re: SPINOFF- Am I cheap?
I've been a reader twice and received a gift each time. I think it's a nice gesture. They are participating in your wedding ceremony. I don't think you need to go overboard though.
I have one female reader and two male readers in my wedding.
Just a little something that says 'thank you for being part of our day!' I think that's important.

Re: SPINOFF- Am I cheap?
I'm not sure when it happened, but when did brides start buying gifts for EVERYONE?
When I was asking my mom what to get for my BMs, and rattled off all these things, she was saying I was going crazy. My FMIL too.
I don't think anything beyond a corsage is necessary, and remember, it's YOUR wedding, you should be getting the gifts.
I get the whole, 'they are important' thing, but isn't your love enough?

Re: SPINOFF- Am I cheap?
I don't think that it is a matter of being cheap or not. Its up to you to do what you want. I had to girl readers. I got both of them corsages for the wedding and the night of the rehearsal I gave them both a picture frame and a candle. I didn't do anything crazy, I just wanted to do something for them. Both of these people are very important in my life and I wanted to show them my appreciation. Like I said it is up to you.

I gave them coursages/boutenierres as well as a nice picture frame at the rehearsal dinner.
After the wedding, I gave them an extra photo to put in the picture frame.

Re: SPINOFF- Am I cheap?
I've done readings a couple of times and since I was invited to the rehearsal dinner I was given a gift but I don't think it is something you have to do. I'm going to get small token gifts and corsages for my readers.
